` <br />b / <br />u <br />Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2632 AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING CONDEMNATION OF RIGHT OF <br />WAY AND EASEMENT FOR DRAINAGE PURPOSES AND PROPERTY FOR STREET PURPOSES AND FOR PUBLIC PARKING PURPOSES, <br />MARSHALL STREET PARKING AREA (which includes some of Parking Lot VI acquisition), seconded by Council- <br />man Rosselli and carried -on roll call, Councilman Weiss being noted absent. <br />REQUEST PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CIVIL DEFENSE COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT. Councilman Spillers <br />moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2633 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR RADIO EQUIPMENT AND AUTHORIZING <br />CALLING FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call, Councilman Weiss <br />being noted absent. <br />APPOINTMENT TO FILL EXPIRED TERMS ON VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMISSION. Councilman Rosselli moved that Ferris <br />Miles and Arthur Inman be reappointed as members of the Veterans Memorial Commission of the City of <br />Redwood City for term of two years cormnencing January 1, 1959, terminating December 31, 1960, (Minute <br />Oder) seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. (Minute Order #59-2) <br />Councilman Granger moved that a letter of commendation be sent to Frank Hannig for his past work on <br />the Veterans Memorial Commission, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />APPOINTMENT TO FILL EXPIRED TERM OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES CF THE SAN MATEO COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT.' <br />Courc ilman Herkner moved that Henry Beeger be reappointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the <br />San Mateo County Mosquito Abatement District, (Minute Order #59-3) seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried. <br />DE-ANNEXATIO14 OF TOFFANELLI PROPERTY FROM THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY. Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2634 OF THE CITY CF REDWOOD CITY CONSENTING TO DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, seconded <br />by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll calls, Councilman Weiss being noted absent. <br />AUTHORIZE CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT DEED FOR SANITARY SEWER EASEMENT OVER PORTIONS OF LOTS 21 3, 4 AND 5, BLOCK 12 <br />FARM HILL N0. 3. The City will accept the easement with the urxierstanding that the installation of <br />proposed sanitary sewer on city property will be subject to strict regulations as determined by the <br />City Engineer and Water Superintendent, particularly in the immediate vicinity of high pressure 10" <br />water main serving the Farm Hill area. All trenching shall be by hand and at the location and grade <br />approved by the City Engineer and Water Superintendent. -A City inspector must be present at all times <br />dura.ng construction. Councilman Spillers moved to authorize the City Clerk to accept the deed subject <br />to conditions stated above, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: Letter from Assemblyman Carl Britschgi regarding present status of Spruce Street connect- <br />ing link to the Bayshore Highway. According to the letter, results should be forthcoming within the <br />next three weeks. <br />Letter from the District Attorney's office congratulating SGT. George Bold and Officer E. Guida for <br />their work on January 13th and 14th in an important series of arrests made on a vicious and dangerous <br />gang of criminals suspected of narcotics, holdups, burglaries and related crimes. <br />COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION ON INCREASE CF TAXI RATES. The committee recommended that the rates be increased <br />based on the evidence shown them by the Taxi Company. Councilman Spillers moved that the Committeets <br />recommendation be approved and instructed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary ordinance, seconded <br />by Councilman Rosselli and carried on roll call, Councilmen Herkner and Weymouth abstaining because of <br />business connections and Councilman Weiss being noted absent. <br />Councilman Rosselli recommended that the Spruce Street Committee and the City Manager go to Sacramento <br />with regard to the clover leaf at Woodside Road and Five Points and possibly seek the aid of the <br />Chamber of Commerce in an attempt to speed things up. The City Manager was asked to give this re- <br />commendation due consideration. <br />i <br />
