<br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, ROSE AVENUE EXTENSION AND IMPROVEMENTS. The following bids Were received:

<br />Bragato Paving Co., Belmont 28,603.90
<br />C. J. Wood, Inc., Redwood City 29,946.05
<br />Engineer's Estimate - $33,994.40 - contract items only
<br />The City Engineer recommended that the low bid of Doublass & Woodhouse be accepted, and that all other
<br />bids be rejected. Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 2822 AWARDING CONTRACT, ROSE
<br />AVENUE EXTENSION AND IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried on roll call, Council-
<br />man Weymouth being noted absent.
<br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Meet-

<br />Invocation was led by Reverend Rowland T. Edgeworth, First Baptist Church.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D.
<br />Herkner, John S. Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth and Mayor William H. Royer and City C lark
<br />R. S. Dodge. Also present Were City Manager James E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Assistant
<br />Planning Director Leonard Knittel, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Police
<br />Chief William Faulstich, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss and Water Superintendent Lisle Winter.
<br />Councilman Spillers moved approval of the council minutes of July 27th as mailed, seconded by Councilman
<br />Fields and carried.
<br />PEDESTRIAN RECORD AWARD denoting no pedestrian deaths in Redwood City for the year 1958, presented by the
<br />American Automobile Association in conjunction With the California State Automobile Association was
<br />presented by Mayor Royer to Chief of Police Faulstich With expressei.on of congratulation for the job
<br />done by the Police Department,
<br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ABANDONMENT OF STORM IRAINAGE EASEMENT over 111ots 1, 2, 19, 20 and 21, Silver -Manor Sub-
<br />division, pursuant to Public Service Easements Vacation Law. Affidavits of publication and posting
<br />were ordered filed. There were no written protests. Messers Crittenden and Moscato of 1633 Redwood
<br />Avenue and 1321 Valota,Road, respectively, addressed the Council. After discussion Mr. Moscato was
<br />s
<br />offered the suggestion that he meet with the City Manager in an effort to work out some solution to his
<br />problem. Councilman Rossellits motion to carry over one week failed to secure a second. Councilman
<br />Spillers then moved, seconded by Councilman Fields, to close the public hearing. Motion carried.
<br />Councilman Herkner Is motion not to abandon was seconded by Councilman Spillers, who withdrew his sec-
<br />ond after discussion. The motion was then seconded by Councilman Fields.
<br />Councilman Spillers offered an amendment to the motion to the effect that the hearing be re -opened and
<br />carried over one week. Motion was seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried.
<br />ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 944 AMENDING SECTION 192 OF ORDINANCE NO. 758, the traffic ordinance, adding Section
<br />192.20 to provide for limited parking on Lathrop Street (2 hour zone) between El Camino Real and Chest-
<br />nut Street. Councilman.Herknermoved adoption of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Spillers and
<br />carried on roll call. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed.
