?32 <br />Request of Burton C. & Edna G. Martel for permit to fill strip between street and sidewalk with brick or flag- <br />stones, was approved and referred to City Attorney for preparation of the necessary agreement, on motion of <br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #59-132) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2823 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR BROADWAY WIDENING, Major City Street Project No. 78. Resolution award- <br />ing contract to Bragato Paving Company, Belmont, bid price of $179329.50 was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Rosselli, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br />APPLICATION FOR 32 LANE BOWLING ALLEY located at 1875 Virginia Avenue submitted by Blumenfeld,Enterprises, Inc. <br />Application was granted under the conditions of Ordinance No. 406, for one year commencing A ugust 4, 1959s <br />on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Applicant paid license fee of <br />$4.00 per lane or $128.00. <br />Advertise for installation of two wooden water tanks. Continue. <br />CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON STATE PROPERTY. Request for cancellation of taxes on property acquired by State for <br />highway purposes was granted, subject to approval of City Attorney on motion of Councilman Weymouth, see- <br />onded by Councilman Fields and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #59-133) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2824 BEING RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 600 to modify restrictions of sub -stand - <br />and lots in R-2, R-3, R -3-G and R-4 land use district. Councilman Rosselli's motion that the matter be held <br />up one week for further study failed to secure a second. After discussion as to the propriety of adopting <br />the resolution and automatically referring the matter back to the Planning Commission, Councilman Spillers <br />moved adoption of the Resolution, seconded by Councilman Granger. After further discussion, Councilman <br />Granger withdrew his second, followed by Councilman Weymouth's seconding of the motion. Motion to adopt <br />carried, with Councilmen Fields and Rosselli voting no. <br />APPOINTMENT OF GENERAL PLAN COMMITTEE to aid in the formation of the City's general plan to act as a liasion <br />committee to act with the Six Year Plan Committee. Councilman Spillers moved to authorize the City Manager <br />to proceed with the understanding that members of the Six Year Plan Committee be utilized, if possible. <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />REVOCABLE PERMIT FOR USE OF CITY PROPERTY BY TERRACE SWIM AND TENNIS CLUB was approved on motion of Councilman <br />Weymouth, seconded by Councilman Rosselli to adopt RESOLUTION N0. 2825. Motion carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 2826 AWARDING CCKTRACT, ROSE AVENUE EXTENSION AND IMPROVMENT. Resolution awarding contract to <br />Douglass & Woodhouse at $23,478.25 was adopted on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2827 DIRECTING SALE CF IMPROVEMENT BONDS, ROSE AVENUE EXTENSION AND IMPROVEMENT. Resolution was <br />adopted on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried on roll call. <br />Communication from Schiller and Jamison complimenting the City Engineer's Department for their cooperation during <br />a recent relocation of creek on Junipero Street was read by the City Manager. <br />City Clerk was authorized to accept deed to a small parcel of land adjacent to the Glenwood Avenue Improvment <br />District from the Floyd L. Baird Estate, with the understanding that there would be no assessment against <br />the area on motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Granger discussed the situation where a local firm was granted permission to conduct "Going Out of Bus- <br />iness" sale, only to reppen a short time later under a new name. Councilman Granger then moved that proper <br />authorities make an investigation of any business operating under the conditions noted, seconded by Council- <br />man Rosselli and carried. <br />Claims number 29904 through 30061 amounting to $96,716.08 were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Spillers, see- <br />onded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adjournment, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried.
