i <br />Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2850 APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH REDWOOD PEST CONTROL FOR RODENT EXTERMINATION. The sum of $730.05 <br />has been appropriated for said purpose during discal year 1959-60. Councilman Fields moved adoption of <br />resolution, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted <br />absent. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2851 GIVING NOTICE CE AND DECLARING INTENTION TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN -MOTION PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX <br />CERTAIN U TINHABITED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; DESCRIBING SAID TERRITORY AND DESIGNATING IT BY <br />THE NAME CF "LESLIE ANNEXATION NO. 2-B"; GIVING ITS REASONS FOR DESIRING SAID ANNEXATION; MAKING CERTAIN <br />•FINDINGS RESPECTING SAID PROCEEDINGS;; AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE COUNCIL WILL HEAR PROTESTS TO <br />SAID ANNEXATION. The City Attorney stated the institution of further proceedings was a precautionary move. <br />He stated further that this resolution was the area on the north; Annexations No. 1 and 3, and Nos. 1-A and <br />3-A were'not included in the above motion. Date of hearing was set at October 5, 1959. The territory des- <br />cribed above is exactly the same as previously instituted uner the titles of "Leslie Annexation No. 21' and <br />"Leslie Annexation No. 2-A". Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of the -foregoing resolution.. seconded by <br />Councilman Fields and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />City Attorney informed the Council that the City of Belmont has initiated annexation proceedings covering <br />an area included in our original proceedings. Hearing has been set for'Friday, August 21st, and it may be <br />necessary to take some legal action to protect the City's interest. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the Mayor and City Attorney be authorized to take whatever legal steps are <br />necessary, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS RE -OPENED. Cupertino Gravel Company's bid of $19,771.40 was found <br />to be correct upon checking. Councilman Herkner mored that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2852 ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS MARSHALL STREET (MAIN STREET <br />TO WALNUT STREET), seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted <br />absent. <br />Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2853 AWARDING CONTRACT, MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS,. <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING JEFFERSCN AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS RE -OPENED. The bid of Cupertino"Gravel Company of $45012.35 was <br />found to be correct. Walter and Alice E. Jones protested the assessment as being too costly. Public hear- <br />ing was closed on motion of Councilman Spillers and seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2854ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS, JEFFERSON AVENUE (HIGHLAND <br />AVENUE TO FARM HILL BOULEVARD), seconded by Councilman Fields and carried on roll: call, Councilman Weymouth <br />being noted absent. <br />Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO, 2855 AWARDING CONTRACT, JEFFERSON AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING GLENWOOD AVENUE -CANYON ROAD IMPROVEMENTS RE --OPENED. Mrs. Alice E. Jones protested the assessment <br />on the grounds that assessment was too high. She also called attention to the fact that her property was <br />assessed in both the Glenwood Avenue and the Jefferson Avenue improvements. <br />The bid of Douglass & Woodhouse in the amount of $64,275.11 was found to be corroct. W.. <br />James Paxton, Attorny for Marguerite Anderson, guardian of the estate and person of Elsie M. Croasman, <br />filed a written protest on change of grade which would effect ingress and egress to garage. Mr. & Mrs. <br />VonHofen also addressed the council regarding the assessment. They were not, however, protesting the <br />improvement,* <br />
