<br />REVIOCD CITY, CALIFORNIA, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by

<br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, EAGLE HILL TERRACE IMPROVEMENTS. Deputy City Engineer Moen reported that the low bid
<br />was that submitted by Douglass & Woodhouse in the amount of $5,569.31• City Attorney Costello recommended
<br />that -the bid not be awarded at this time but continue the matter in order to check the grade problem.
<br />Attorney Lebsack recommended that the Council continue the public hearing in order to give consideration
<br />as to whether or not the changes of grade would create a possible damage suit problem. Councilman Rosselli
<br />asked that the Traffic Committee check and make a report on the traffic problem. The Clerk read the letters """M

<br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE FIXING TAX RATE FOR 1959-60. The Mayor read the report of the City Manager (see fact sheet).
<br />After discussion, Councilman Rosselli moved that they set the tax rate at $1.265, seconded by Councilman
<br />Herkner. The motion lost on roll call with a tie vote, Councilmen Granger, Herkner and Rosselli voting yes,
<br />Councilmen Fields, Spillers and Mayor Royer voting no and Councilman Weymouth being noted absent.

<br />Councilman Herkner moved introduction of an ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation
<br />upon the taxable property within the City of Redwood City as revenue to carry on the various departments of
<br />said City for the fiscal year 1959-60 to pay the bonded indebtedness of said City falling due and becoming
<br />payable during said fiscal year together with the interest thereon, to maintain the public library of said
<br />City during said fiscal year, to maintain the War Memorial Veterans Hall Building, to rpovide funds for the
<br />retirement plan, and to provide for capital improvements; and fixing and levying the tax rate therefor, sec-
<br />onded by Councilman Fields and carried, Councilman Rosselli voting no. (MINUTE ORDER #59-138)
