350 <br />curred in the removal or replacement of any of permiteets improvements in the event it becores necessary <br />to maintain any water pipes, sewer lines or any other public facility within the parking strip (MINUTE <br />CRDER #59-152), seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Granger brought up the matter of the problem of shake roofs, for -example and asked if there was <br />some way in which the,City could look favorably on granting a variance and changing of the code if it is <br />too strict. It was explained that the Fire Zone and Building Code require certain conditions in different <br />Mad <br />zones and types of business and at present they, control the situation. The City Manager was asked to look <br />into the matter. <br />Claims 30443 through 30535, totaling $67,509.62, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Fields, seconded by <br />- Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Granger given ng was g permission to leave the State. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. Dodge, C� y Clerk <br />Minutes of Special Study Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />September 25, 1959, 8:00 P.M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, <br />John Rosselli, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City <br />Manager James Neal, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, City Auditor -Assessor John J. Brophy, City Attorney Robert <br />J. Costello and Water Superintendent H. L. Winter., ....r <br />Affidavit of "service of notice of Special Meeting" was filed. <br />Mayor Royer called attention to the forthcoming meeting with the County, at which time Sales Tax program will be <br />discussed. The meeting will be held on October 8th and all cities present will be polled in order to <br />ascertain the wishes of the individual cities. After discussion, it was decided that the matter would be <br />discussed at the regular meeting of September 28th, <br />Piedmont Way Improvements. City Engineer recommended against any attempt to start the improvements this year <br />due to the winter season. After discussion, it was determined that plans be prepared as soon as possible <br />and the work be commenced as rapidly as possible. <br />EMERALD LAKE WATER POLICY. Mr. William A. Patrick, President of the Emerald Lake Improvement Association, ad- <br />dressed the meeting stating that the Association was not in favor of proceeding with water and sewer install- <br />ation, nor annexation until further studies could be completed. He stated further that they were not fully <br />satisfied with the progress of the committee formed last spring to work with the city officials on pro- r <br />posed annexation. They also thought the County should enter into the studies and that some consideration <br />be given to land use studies to the end that some planning control be placed as to size of lots, etc. <br />After further discussion, Mr. Patrick was requested to contact city staff members and raise specific <br />questions* In the meantime <br />q , the present policy of no new water connections would be continued. <br />TRUCK ORDINANCE was the next topic of discussion. The Council discussed the evidence received at the public <br />hearing concerning the proposed permit system truck ordinance. Several residents of the Whipple Avenue <br />area were in attendance and reiterated the objections they made at the public hearing. The City Attorney <br />advised that no new evidence could be received by the Council at this time without re -opening the public <br />hearing and providing notice.
