I Emwl@ n!l n 0 Regular Annual Meeting of the Board of Equalization Mondayy July 18s 1960 Meeting was called to order at.10-.05 a. m. by Mayor Weymouth. ROLL CALL: Councilmen Herkner., Rossellis Stehle and Mayor Weymouths City Clerk Helen Moore were noted present. Councilmen Fields, Granger and Royer were noted absent. Also present'O City Attorney. Robert J. Costello$ City Assessor John J. Brophy and Police Chief William Faulstieh. Mayor Weymouth announced that the written protests received were not verified protests., but on request of Councilman Herkner the letters were read aloud for the information of the City Council. Letters of protest from the following tax payers were read: Mrs. Werner, Holmp 431 Madison Avenue; Mrs* Jo Granuccip 532 Arguello Street; Redwood City Knitting Mills, Inc., 150 Charter Street; William Ov(irleyj 1042 Whipple,AVenuej; Alexander Quilicis, Bloek'374s, Lot 4- Rustom B. Banas Arb* Block 393., Lot 9. The affidavit of publication of Notice to Taxpayers of the Board of Equalization hearing was ordered filed* Mr. William Overleys being first duly sworns, submitted an oral protest on the amount of his taxes* City Assessor John Brophy was sworn, and replied to *. Overley's and the Council's questions* Councilman Rosselli moved to overrule the protest., seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried* Sworn testimony was heard from Caroline Hausp 1055 Whipple Avenue. On motion of Councilman Herkner,, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried., the protest was overruled. Joseph B. Reber# appearing on behalf of the Redwood City Knitting Mills, attested the signature and facts in their letter of protest., previously read,, and being duly sworn made verbal protest to t he amount of the assessment on their property* The City Assessor testified that the assessed valuation was on the same basis as all other property in the area. Coxincilman Herkner moved to overrule the protest., seconded by Councilman Stehle, and carried* There being no other protectants present Councilman Rosselli moved to accept and confirm the assessment roll as submitted by the City Assessor as the equalized assessment roll for the fiscal year 1960-61p seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried unanimously on roll callp Councilmen Fieldsl Granger and Royer being noted absent* Meeting adjourned at 10:43 a. -m.., motion by Councilman Rossellip seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. Stehle., Mayor Ray A. Weymouth and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Also present were City Attorney Robert J. Costello., City Engineer Glenn Me JainqA ssessor-Auditor John J. Bropby., Police Chief William Faulstichv Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Fire Chief J. Lo Lodi and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Rifbjergo Councilman Royer moved approval of the minutes of July 11th and July 13th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Rosselli who asked that the minutes of July 11th,, page 5., next to last paragraph be corrected to show that Councilman Rosselli moved and Councilman Stehle seconded the motion. Motion carried.
