I <br />Emwl@ <br />n!l <br />n <br />0 <br />Regular Annual Meeting of the Board of Equalization <br />Mondayy July 18s 1960 <br />Meeting was called to order at.10-.05 a. m. by Mayor Weymouth. <br />ROLL CALL: Councilmen Herkner., Rossellis Stehle and Mayor Weymouths City Clerk Helen Moore were noted <br />present. Councilmen Fields, Granger and Royer were noted absent. Also present'O City Attorney. Robert <br />J. Costello$ City Assessor John J. Brophy and Police Chief William Faulstieh. <br />Mayor Weymouth announced that the written protests received were not verified protests., but on request of <br />Councilman Herkner the letters were read aloud for the information of the City Council. <br />Letters of protest from the following tax payers were read: <br />Mrs. Werner, Holmp 431 Madison Avenue; Mrs* Jo Granuccip 532 Arguello Street; Redwood City Knitting <br />Mills, Inc., 150 Charter Street; William Ov(irleyj 1042 Whipple,AVenuej; Alexander Quilicis, Bloek'374s, <br />Lot 4- Rustom B. Banas Arb* Block 393., Lot 9. <br />The affidavit of publication of Notice to Taxpayers of the Board of Equalization hearing was ordered <br />filed* <br />Mr. William Overleys being first duly sworns, submitted an oral protest on the amount of his taxes* City <br />Assessor John Brophy was sworn, and replied to *. Overley's and the Council's questions* Councilman <br />Rosselli moved to overrule the protest., seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried* <br />Sworn testimony was heard from Caroline Hausp 1055 Whipple Avenue. On motion of Councilman Herkner,, <br />seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried., the protest was overruled. <br />Joseph B. Reber# appearing on behalf of the Redwood City Knitting Mills, attested the signature and <br />facts in their letter of protest., previously read,, and being duly sworn made verbal protest to t he amount <br />of the assessment on their property* The City Assessor testified that the assessed valuation was on the <br />same basis as all other property in the area. Coxincilman Herkner moved to overrule the protest., seconded <br />by Councilman Stehle, and carried* <br />There being no other protectants present Councilman Rosselli moved to accept and confirm the assessment <br />roll as submitted by the City Assessor as the equalized assessment roll for the fiscal year 1960-61p <br />seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried unanimously on roll callp Councilmen Fieldsl Granger and <br />Royer being noted absent* <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:43 a. -m.., motion by Councilman Rossellip seconded by Councilman Stehle and <br />carried. <br />He -Len Go Moore, City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />July 18, 1960, 8:00 P.M. <br />Invocation was led by City Clerk Moore* <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron Wo Fields,, Floyd Do Grangery Sidney Do Herkners <br />John S.Rossel-Lis, William HoRoyer., Harold C. Stehle., Mayor Ray A. Weymouth and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. <br />Also present were City Attorney Robert J. Costello., City Engineer Glenn Me JainqA ssessor-Auditor John <br />J. Bropby., Police Chief William Faulstichv Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Fire Chief J. Lo Lodi and <br />Deputy City Clerk Vivian Rifbjergo <br />Councilman Royer moved approval of the minutes of July 11th and July 13th as mailed, seconded by Councilman <br />Rosselli who asked that the minutes of July 11th,, page 5., next to last paragraph be corrected to show <br />that Councilman Rosselli moved and Councilman Stehle seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
