1 <br />(Continuation of Minutes of the Council of Redwood City meeting July 25, 1960 - Book 27) <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE APPEAL FROM THE BOARD CF ADJUSTMENTS GRANTING OF THE USE PERMIT TO EARL AND HELEN <br />GREGORY' on property located at 5114 El Camino Real for permission to operate a cocktail lounge and <br />install a sign. The Clerk read the report of the Planning Commission wherein it stated that the <br />Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve the use permit. A letter of protest signed by I. <br />R. Goodman, for the following business establishments was read: <br />6r John Pato, 508 El Camino Real <br />Moore's Drive -In Liquors, 5014 El Camino Real <br />C. W. Worthing, DBA El Camino Launderettes 506 El Camino Real <br />William Lees DBA A & A Cleaners, 510 El Camino Real <br />Wm. DeGiavannis DBA Redwood Markets 530 El Camino Real <br />Caroline Haus (apartment house owner), 1055 Whipple Avenue <br />'Pow Mr. Goodman, attorney representing the Protestants, addressed the Council and asked for consideration <br />6&0 of a possible 15 minutes parking zone being established in this area. Helen Gregory and Nick Guida <br />stated that they did not object to this parking restriction. After further discussion on the parking <br />situation, Councilman Rosselli moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Fields and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Fields moved to overrule the appeal and refer the matter to the Traffic Committee to study <br />the parking problem and report back to the Council. Attorney Gardella said it would be better to con- <br />sider these as separate matters. Councilman Fields withdrew his motion and then moved to affirm the <br />action of the Planning Commission and grant the use permit (MINUTE ORDER #60-1714), seconded by Council- <br />man Stehle. Councilman Herkner amended the motion subject to 20 minute parking zone. The Assistant <br />City Attorney statedthat the City has no control over the State highway. This was followed by dis- <br />cission and the amendment lost for lack of a second. The motion carried on,~roll call with Councilmen <br />Fields, Rosselli, Stehle and Mayor Weymouth voting yes, Councilmen Granger and Herkner voting no and <br />Councilman Royer being noted absent. <br />�rrr <br />Councilman Herkner moved to take the parking matter up immediately with the State asking them to con- <br />sider a 20 minute parking zone based on the maximum hours, E1 Camino Real on the west side between <br />Whipple and Hopkins Avenues. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Stehle said he would second <br />the motion of the parking was restricted between the hours of 9:00 a. m. and 6:00 p. m. This was <br />again followed by discussion after which the second was withdrawn and then the moti on -was withdrawn. <br />Councilman Fields moved to refer this matter to the Traffic Bureau for a recommendation as to what <br />parking.restrictions could be put on the area and report their findings to the Council (MINUTE ORDER <br />#60-175)2 seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE RESOLUTION OF INTENTION BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO AMEND SECTION 14.2 OF ORDINANCE <br />NO. 600 TO REZONE PROPERTY KNONN AS THE BRESSO ANNEXATION (all of Lot 7, Block 2s Woodacre Knolls) <br />from "Ufts Unclassified District to an R-3 Districts Multiple Family Residential District. The public <br />hearing was declared open and the affidavits of notice were ordered filed. The Clerk read the report <br />of the Planning Commission. Alice Rankine asked that the zoning be held to R -3-G zoning. Councilman <br />Herkner moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />Councilman Fields moved introduction of an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 600, the Zoning Ordinance, <br />�,.,. to rezone all of Lot 7s Block 2s Woodacre Knolls Subdivision, from "U" District to R -3-G District, <br />seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />Because Paul Tessendorf left early in the meeting his item was deleted from the agenda. <br />CLAIM FOR ALLE3ED INJURIES TO LUCILLE R. WARD, 3.129 - 18th Avenue, Councilman Fields moved to deny the <br />claim and referred it to the insurance carrier (MINUTE ORDER #60-176), seconded by Councilman Rosselli <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Fields moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 3155 COMMENDING MRS. MURIEL MERMAN ON THE OCCASION OF <br />
