R. Grandsaert, 3523 Glenwood Avenue, requested permission to continue the sidewalk area up to a wall <br />he has constructed which is approximately 21 feet from the end of the sidewalk. He intends to leave two <br />squares approximately 21 x 2J in this strip for the purpose of planting two trees. The City Engineer <br />stated that he had no objections to this under the conditions outlined, but variance must be handled <br />by Council and permit obtained from Engineer's office by the Contractor. Coancilman,Spillers moved to <br />grant thevariance (MINUTE ORDER #60-27)= seconded by Councilman Granger and carried,* Councilman Rosselli <br />voting no. <br />On January 30th at 9:00 a* me in the Veteran's Memorial Building the Tri- County Planning Council will hold <br />their Third Annual Seminar on the legal aspects of planning. <br />Councilman Granger brought up the matter of signalization at Broadway and Brewster Avenue. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Spillers and Larried. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, <br />John Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also <br />present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Police Chief William Faulstich, <br />Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, <br />Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector Be H. Kreiss, Traffic Engineer Arthur U. Eskelin, <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of 'January 25th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Fields <br />//and carried. <br />The City Clerk administered the "loyalty oath" to Wallace Harder as a new member of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission. Mayor Royer then presented Mr. Harder with his Certificate of Appointment. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE APPEAL TO THE GRANTING OF A USE PERMIT TO THE PELMAC DIVISION X QUANTIC INDUSTRIES, INC. <br />to operate an explosive assembly, loading, storage and testing site in the Leslie Salt Annexation #2, one- <br />half mile East of Bayshore Freewgy. The public hearing was declared open and the affidavit of mailing ordered <br />filed. Charles Newman, representing Pelmac, stated that the principals have not reached an agreement.
