Councilman Herkner nominated Robin Be Hatfield., 3090 Sterling Way, to the Personnel Board, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers. Councilman Rosselli moved that the nominations be closed and an unanimous ballot <br />be cast (MINUTE ORDER #60-37), seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />COM UNICATIONS <br />Sequoia Yacht Club request a suitable site for future clubhouse facilities adjacent to the berthing <br />area in the new Marina. Councilman Granger moved that the request be granted to the extent that our <br />�.r Department Heads investigate the matter thoroughly as to location, etc* lifter discussion, Councilman <br />Granger withdrew his motion. Councilman Herkner moved that this matter be referred to the Park and <br />Recreation Commissionp for a study and report back with assistance by the staff (MINUTE ORDER #60-38), <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Pon <br />County Board of Supervisors reported that they have pledged to the City of Redwood City for the pro- <br />posed construction of Spruce Street Interchange the sum of $25,000 each year for the next ten years, <br />such allocation to be made subject to approval of the District Attorney; it was also agreed that if <br />the bond issue to be voted on by the electors of Redwood City in April (total amount of $750,000.00) <br />fails, the offer will be withdrawn. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the proposal of the County <br />and a Letter of thanks be sent with great appreciation (MINUTE ORDER #60--39), seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO, 2976 COMMENDING MIMI ARNOLD, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried unanimously on roll call. <br />City Manager reported on the Six Year Plan. He stated that the Committee Lwould make the campaign speeches <br />rather than the Department Heads. There was also discussion on the length of time the bonds should run. <br />The Mayor read a proclamation in honor of American National Beauty Meeke, <br />Claims 31654 through 31812s totaling $68,198.59, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded <br />by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. Be stodge,/City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />February 8, 1960, 8:00 P.M. <br />The Clerk asked for nominations for Mayor pro -tem for the evening. Councilman Spillers moved to appoint <br />Councilman Herkner as Mayor pro -tem, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />INVOCATION WAS led by Reverend John Williamson, North Fair Oaks Community Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, John Rosselli, <br />�+ Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth, Mayor pro -tem Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Mayor <br />Royer was noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. 'teal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, <br />City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Police Chief William Faulstich, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Assessor - <br />Auditor John J. Brophy, Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel, Building Inspector 8. H. Kreiss, <br />i <br />Traffic Ungineer Arthur U. Eskelin., Street Superintendent Doyle Chester and Deputy City Clerk Vivian <br />s Holmquist. <br />Councilman Rosselli asked that the minutesof February 1st show that the Mayor read a proclamation in honor <br />of American National Beauty Week. Councilman Spillers moved that the minutes be approved as corrected# <br />seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />The Clerk administered the "loyalty oath" to Robin Be Hatfield as the new member to the Personnel Board. <br />Mayor pro -tem Herkner presented Mr. Hatfield with the certificate of appointment. <br />
