Now4W3 <br />Councilman Fields moved that Fred Cheesebrough and Bernard Nobler be appointed for a two year term <br />(MINUTE CRDER #60-128), seconded by Councilman Hosselli and carried. <br />COMMUNICATI ONS a <br />Arthur C. Lindgren, 2655 Eaton Avenue, submitted a claim for alleged damage and expense incurred as a <br />result of the blocking of the main sewer in the 100 block of Elwood Street. Councilman Fields moved <br />that the claim be denied and referred to the insurance carrier, (MINUTE ORM #60-129), seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Woodside Road Community Methodist Church, on behalf of the Redwood City Ministerial Association, ex- <br />pressed their appreciation for the assistance given them by the Park Department for the preparation <br />of the Easter Bowl property for the Easter Sunrise Services. <br />Mrs. Paul William, representing several women of the Woodside-Portola Presbyterian Church, expressed <br />their thanks for illuminating the cross. <br />Park and Recreation Commission recommend that the plans for the Little League diamond at Stulsaft <br />Park be abandoned and the area be developed as a multi-purpose playground on the site of the mercury <br />mine in Stulsaft Park. Counci.iman Granger moved to refer this to the Budget Committee. Councilman <br />Royer moved to cancel the order for the back stop. Councilman Rosselli moved to approve the recommend- <br />ation of the Park and Recreation Commission. The Mayor asked that all the motions be withdrawn since <br />there were no seconds and asked the Council to start over again. Councilman Rosselli moved to abandon <br />the Little League field in Stulsaft Park (MINUTE ORDER #60-130), seconded by Councilman Royer and car- <br />ried. <br />Councilman Royer moved to instruct the City Attorney to bring in a resolution transferring the $3,000 <br />appropriated for the Little League field to a fund for the purpose of the multi-purpose field (MINUTE <br />ORDER #60-131)p seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />Don S. Wilson, County Engineer and Road Commissioner., requested the City of Redwood City to submit a <br />formal request for the establishment of a flood control zone for Redwood Creek under the provisions of <br />the San Mateo County Flood Control Act, before the County authorizes an advance of funds for a boundary <br />survey of the proposed zone. A request at this time from Redwood City for establishment of a zone <br />would not constitute approval or disapproval of any specific proposal for construction of flood control <br />works. Councilman Royer moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 30811 REQUESTING THE BOARD CF SUPERVISORS TO <br />INSTITUTE ENGINEERING STUDIES PRELIMINARY TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PROPOSED FLOOD CONTROL ZONE FOR RED- <br />WOOD CREEK DRAINAGE AREA PURSUANT TO SAN NATEO COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT ACT, seconded by Council- <br />man Herkner and carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Floyd D. Granger regarding the City Selection Committee, Bay Area Pollution Commission. In his report, <br />Councilman Granger stated that Clyde West, the Mayor of San Mateo, was chosen as chairman of the City <br />Selection Committee* Andy Co Byrd of the City of Burlingame was re-elected to succeed himself as the <br />cities' representative on the Pollution Commission. Mr. Byrd has suggested that all local problems <br />dealing with pollution on a local level be referred to him direct, as he believes he can save the ex- <br />pense of state agencies in solving some of these problems. <br />Telegram from Harry H. Weiner suggesting that the "Climate Best by Government Test" sign be moved to <br />Bayshore Highway at either the Harbor Boulevard entrance or the Whipple Avenue entrance. The Magor,, <br />upon approval of the Council, referred this telegram to the City Manager to discuss with the Chamber of <br />Commerce. <br />Councilman Herkner asked permission to leave the State for seven days to attend a Red Cross meeting in <br />Kansas. Councilman Granger moved to grant Councilman Herkner permission to leave the State, seconded <br />by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />
