6 <br />It was recommended that the low bid of Ely Motor Company be accepted and all other bids be rejected. The <br />City has received the sum of $2,162.48 from its insurance carrier which leaves a balance of $71.3 to make <br />up the total of $2,233.91• <br />Councilman Granger moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 3090 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING OF NEW POLICE CAR; <br />AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED, .seconded by Councilman Fields and carried unanimously on roll_ call, <br />Councilmen Rosselli and Royer being noted absent. <br />BARRY DRESS SHIP REQUESTS PERMISSION TO CONDUCT A CLOSE-OUT SALE, 2119 BROADWAY. All the requirements of the <br />ordinance have been complied with. Councilman Herkner moved to grant the permit (MINUTE ORDER #60-13b), <br />seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />.14 <br />ACCEPTANCE OF MacDONALD SUBDIVISION. It was recommended that the improvements in MacDonald Subdivision be ac- <br />cepted subject to the following conditions: <br />(1) One year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. <br />(2) Payment by the subdivider, Hugh H. MacDonald, of all engineering and inspection charges due the <br />city. <br />Councilman Fields moved to accept MacDonald Subdivision subject to the above mentioned conditions (MINUTE <br />ORDER #60-139), seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />PRESENTATION TO COUNCIL OF PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR 1960-61 by the City Manager. Councilman Granger moved adoption <br />of RESOLUTION N0. 3091 SETTING TILE AND PLACE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, <br />1960 -JUNE 30, 1961; ORDERING PUBLIC NOTICE BE GIVEN OF SAID HEARING AND OF THE FACT THAT COPIES OF SAID PRO- <br />POSED BUDGET ARE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK (public hearing June 20th), <br />seconded by Councilman Fields and carried unanimously on roll call, Councilmen Rosselli and Royer being <br />noted absent. <br />CONTRACT WITH DUMBARTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT. Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 3092 <br />AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT BETWEEN DUMBARTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR FURNISHING FIRE <br />PROTECTION BY THE CITY WITHIN SAID FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried unani- <br />mously on roll call, Councilmen Rosselli and Royer being noted absent. Previous to the roll call, Council- <br />man Granger asked if the people who negotiated with the City were authorized to do so. The City Attorney <br />stated that the agreement would be presented to the Board by the District Attorney+s office and would be <br />Accepted by Resolution, a copy of which would be affixed to the agreement before execution by the City. <br />Further discussion on application for water permit from Department of Public Health. Councilman Herkner moved <br />to apply for the water permit,in line with the letter from the State Department of Public Health dated <br />May 10th (MINUTE ORDER #60-140), seconded by Councilman Stehle. After considerable discussion as to why the <br />the City was taking these steps, ghat might happen if they didnIt proceed,, and the City Manager Is opinion <br />that the Department of Public Health would help the City rather,than take immediate steps and force the City <br />to spend considerable monies in the Emerald Lake Areae the motion carried. <br />CENTRAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, requests an extension of ten working days on the Broadway Street Lighting Improvement <br />District. The City Engineer recommended the extension be granted. Councilman Granger moved that the permit <br />be granted and a ten day extension be given (MINUTE OLDER #60-141), seconded by Councilman Herkner and car- <br />ried* The Clerk had received written approval of the bonding company., <br />APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO CONDUCT PUBLIC LAUNDRY, ODDSTAD HOMES. The proposed location for the laundry is "B" <br />portion of Lot 8, Block 1, Broadway No. 3, adjacent to their present building on Broadway. Councilman <br />Fields moved that the permit be granted (MINUTE ORDER #60-1142),_seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />COMMUNICATI ONS : <br />The City Manager reported that he had a petition signed by 1033 people in the Friendly Acres area requesting <br />
