The <br />Clerk also read a petition signed by 58 residents of the area protesting the rezoning. <br />Chester Lebsack, attorney representing the applicants, addressed the Council and pleaded <br />his case. <br />Councilman Granger raised the question of a possible 5' buffer strip on this property if <br />it were rezoned commercial. This was followed by discussion. <br />The following people appeared and protested the rezoning: Donald Frohlich, 491 Topaz <br />Street; Mrs. Howard B. Roe,618 Lancaster Way; Jack Perrins, 3221 Jefferson Avenue; John <br />"4 <br />Gress, 511 Upton Street, and Howard Roe, 618 Lancaster Way. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman <br />Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the request be granted providing that some sort of buffer can <br />be established. Councilman Royer stated that he would second the motion provided <br />Councilman Granger setthe area to be rezoned as 90' on Jefferson by 165' on Alameda, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer. After discussion the motion lost on roll call vote with <br />Councilmen Fields, Herkner, Rosselli, Stehle and Mayor Weymouth voting no and Councilman <br />Granger and Royer voting yes. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to uphold the Planning Commission's recommendation andterminate <br />the proceedings (MINUTE ORDER #60-153), seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried on roll <br />call with Councilmen Fields, Granger, Herkner, Rosselli, Stehle and Mayor Weymouth voting <br />yes and Councilman Royer voting no. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNUAL BUDGET OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1960-61. The <br />public hearing was declared open and the affidavit of publication ordered filed. There were <br />no written protests. Councilman Fields, raised the question as to whether or not the <br />up -dating of the Land Use Plan could be accomplished faster if the position of Associate <br />Planner was added to the budget. This was followed by considerable discussion after which <br />it was decided to leave the budget as is and if events change and it becomes necessary then <br />the Planning Director can come before the Council and request consideration of the new <br />position. Councilman Rosselli moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Council- <br />man Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Fields moved to approve the budget presently on file in the office of the City �; <br />Clerk without amendment and direct the City Clerk and City Manager to certify such budget <br />as the final budget for the fiscal year 1960-61 (MINUTE ORDER #60-154), seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved introduction of an ordinance of the City of Redwood City adopting <br />the final budget of the City of Redwood City for the fiscal year July 1, 1960 -June 30, 1961; <br />provideing for the appropriation and expenditure of all sums set forth in said budget; pro- <br />viding for emergency expenditures, transfers, additional appropriations and cancellations <br />
