75 <br /> Resolution No . 7095 Approving and Authorizing Execution of Amendment to <br /> Agreement for Operation of Bus Transit System <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote . <br /> Agreement with State Commission on Aging re grant for senior citizen <br /> representative <br /> City Manager Fales called attention to his report of January 8 concerning the <br /> subject agreement . <br /> MOTION : Title having been read , Councilman Leipzig introduced the following reso- <br /> lution and moved , seconded by Councilman. Norris , its adoption : <br /> Resolution No . 7096 Approving and Authorizing Execution of Agreement with <br /> the California Commission on Aging for a Grant for a Senior Citizen Com- <br /> munity Representative in the City of Redwood City <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote . <br /> Belmont Fire District Contractual Relationship <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his reports of January 17 and January 21 with <br /> attachments concerning attempted negotiations with the Belmont Fire District . Mr . <br /> Fales read his report of January 21 , including attachments , and recommended the <br /> subject be continued to January 28 while an attempt is made to determine if an ex - <br /> tension of the fire protection contract is possible . <br /> Mr . Fales also read a letter addressed to Council and received at 4 : 00 p . m . from <br /> Belmont Fire Fighters Local No . 2133 stating they do not support the action of the <br /> Belmont Fire Protection District Board of Directors in giving Redwood City 30 <br /> days ' notice that there will no longer be fire protection for Redwood Shores until <br /> something is worked out with regard to the Belmont School District ' s demand for <br /> three school sites in the area . The members of Local No . 2133 also offered to <br /> supply a list of their names for use in the event of an emergency . <br /> Mayor Keckley expressed appreciation of the offer of cooperation from Local No . <br /> 2133 , <br /> Discussion followed concerning the attempt to make extension of the fire protec - <br /> tion contract contingent upon sites being donated to the Belmont School District ; <br /> the desirability of maintaining good relations with neighboring cities ; the will - <br /> ingness of Mobil to honor the previous commitment of Leslie Properties regarding <br /> sale of school sites at cost ; the inappropriateness of Redwood City playing a role <br /> in a matter which is between Mobil Oil and Belmont School District ; the decreasing <br /> numbers of school children in the community ; the failure of the Belmont Fire Pro- <br /> tection District to give any indication the contract might not be renewed prior to <br /> serving 30 days ' notice ; and the ability of Redwood City to provide adequate fire <br /> protection service on short notice . <br /> Joe Zucca , member of the Board of Fire Directors , Belmont Fire Protection District , <br /> stated that he hoped the District and Redwood City could negotiate , Mr . Zucca ad - <br /> vised that the Fire Protection District Directors wished to help a fellow Belmont <br /> agency in attempting to obtain school sites . <br /> Mr . Fales urged the Council to continue the matter for only one week in order that <br /> the situation might be clarified , stating that if the City is to provide fire pro- <br /> tection then it will do so effectively and will require at least two weeks to set <br /> up the program . <br /> MOTION : Councilman Weymouth moved , seconded by Councilman Henderson , to continue <br /> consideration of a contractual relationship with the Belmont Fire District to the <br /> meeting of January 28 , 1974 . <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> Fair Oaks Community Center - Child Care Facility <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of January 17 , 1974 regarding an agree - <br /> ment with the Peninsula Youth Center for the operation of a child care facility at <br /> the Fair Oaks Community Center . Mr . Fales recommended that Council approve an <br /> agreement with the PYC and also advance $ 18 , 700 for financing during the first two <br /> months . The PYC will refund the advance during the two months following the end <br /> of the contract period from the grant fund they will receive . <br /> 1/21/74 <br /> Reg . Mtg . <br /> } <br />
