Hearing concerning the subject hearing . <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of January 31 attaching report of the <br /> same date from the Director of Public Works , Mr . Fales stated that it is recom- <br /> mended the contract for the 1974 Weed Abatement Program be awarded to Dehoff <br /> Tractor Service , Redwood City , in the amount of $21 , 630 . 00 <br /> Councilman Williams advised that he disqualifies himself from voting on the award <br /> of contract in connection with the weed eradication program . <br /> MOTION : Councilman Henderson moved , seconded by Councilman Weymouth , to close the <br /> public hearing . <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> The public hearing closed at 7 : 37 p . m . <br /> MOTION : Title having been read , Councilman Henderson introduced the following <br /> resolution and moved , seconded by Councilman Weymouth , its adoption : <br /> Resolution No , 7112 Ordering Street Superintendent to Abate Weeds , Dirt , <br /> Rubbish and Rank Growths <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote . <br /> MOTION : Title having been read , Councilman Rhodes introduced the following resolu- <br /> tion and moved , seconded by Councilman Weymouth , its adoption : <br /> Resolution No , 7113 Awarding Contract in Connection with the Weed Eradication <br /> Program in the City of Redwood City <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote , with Councilman Williams <br /> abstaining . <br /> Public Hearing - Housing Element of the General Plan <br /> Mayor Keckley announced that Councilman Leipzig is ill and has been ordered out of <br /> town by her doctor . Councilman Leipzig has requested , with the agreement of <br /> Councilman Henderson , that the public hearing on the adoption of the Housing Ele - <br /> ment of. the General Plan be continued until she can be present . Mayor Keckley <br /> stated that it has been the custom for the Council to extend the courtesy of con- <br /> tinuing Agenda items at the request of any Councilman who expects to be absent when <br /> the request is supported by another councilman . <br /> MOTION : Councilman Henderson moved , seconded by Councilman Williams , to continue <br /> the public hearing on the adoption of the Housing Element of the General Plan until <br /> the regular meeting of February 25 when it is expected the full Council will be <br /> present . <br /> AMENDMENT : Councilman Rhodes moved that the motion be amended to continuing the <br /> item until February 11 . <br /> City Attorney Schricker advised that the proposed amendment is out of order since <br /> it substantially changes the motion . Mr . Schricker further advised that should the <br /> motion before the Council fail , then the amendment would be in order as a motion . <br /> Mayor Keckley advised that he will not be present at the February 11 meeting and <br /> would also request that the Council extend the courtesy to him of continuing the <br /> public hearing until February 25 , <br /> The motion carried by majority voice vote . Councilman Rhodes requested his "No " <br /> vote be recorded . <br /> Mr . William Oeser objected to the continuance of the public hearing and stated he <br /> considers the Council ' s vote to be a promise to conduct the public hearing on the <br /> Housing Element on February 25 , <br /> Mayor Keckley advised Mr . Oeser that the subject was no longer before the Council <br /> and he was out of order . <br /> City Attorney Schricker advised that no additional publication of Notice of Hearing <br /> is required for the continuance of the subject item to February 25 . <br /> 2/4/74 <br /> Reg .
