make more available park use when not needed for their training periods . 369 <br /> Commission advised concerns or recommendations such as this should proceed <br /> through proper channeling and procedures with specifics to City Manager <br /> for reporting to Council , but it was felt 49ers would cooperate with any <br /> suggestions in `.heir usual cooperative manner from past experience with <br /> this group . <br /> Commission also noted that recommendations had been made to the Waterfront <br /> Committee as requested , and questioned whether any other information re - <br /> quired . Councilman Norris , Chairman of Committee , noted that recommendations <br /> were being requested in many quarters and to be compiled and formulated, and <br /> more specifics would probably be needed thereafter on all recommendations , <br /> but Committee not at this phase as yet . <br /> Council was questioned whether anything more being considered for removal <br /> of County Jail from downtown area since publicity given for Council ' s need <br /> to move from meeting quarters in Hall. of Justice & Records , Mayor Keckley <br /> advised Council expressed their opinion well at that time , but it was felt <br /> citizenry could do more to convince County Board of Supervisors for this <br /> needed change. <br /> Another meeting date suggested by Commission , possibly in August , for their <br /> Commission , and possibly , Council could join their quarterly tour of City ' s <br /> park and recreational facilities , both existing and proposed . Mayor <br /> Keckley assured Commission that Council would make another meeting date <br /> possible as suggested . <br /> Recess for lunch - 12- 1 p . m . <br /> Port Commission : <br /> Commissioner Mitchell Webber stated he was reporting for their Chairman , <br /> Dr . Brown , who was unable to be in attendance . He reported that during <br /> the six month period ending December 31st , Port had increased sales ten <br /> percent , reduced expenses by three percent , and increased net profit 300 <br /> percent . In reply to more specific details of figures , Commissioner <br /> Webber noted net profit had to be based on last year ' s low figures of <br /> profit of. some $5 , 700 , but that a full reporting would soon be made to <br /> Council . <br /> Port Manager reported on the new type of business which had commenced <br /> operations at the Port in way of " LASH " barges developed by the Pacific <br /> Far East Line , whereby these barges only come to the Port for loading , <br /> and when whole barge is delivered and lifted onto the freighter awaiting <br /> cargo . This particular barging operat. i_ on comprised only a single type of <br /> cargo , that being scrap metal , but he could predict enlargement of this <br /> type of business with more operations of other commodities , and hopefully <br /> 5/5/73 <br /> Adj . Reg . Mtg . <br />
