Corps of Engineers top- <br /> most so this maintenance car be resumed under new rulings when the criteria <br /> has been settled . <br /> In concluding discussion , 3oard acknowledged the value of having met with <br /> Council for mutual discussion and also suggested further scheduled meetings <br /> with the Council . <br /> Civic Cultural Commission : <br /> Chairman Buickerood reported on members of their Commission whom had been <br /> present for most of the all - day meeting and their interest in all the dis - <br /> cussion held concerning City- wide interests and their interest in helping <br /> City to achieve goals . Fe advised of the event this day being celebrated <br /> at Canada College for " Cinco de Mayo " one of the main holidays of those of <br /> Mexican heritage and that some of the Commissioners were participants from <br /> their group . He noted great expertise contained in their Commission as <br /> witnessed by the well organized and well attended recent City-wide art <br /> festival . He felt Commission well aware of the City ' s wealth of historical <br /> background and their hopes to expand on preserving the cultural heritage <br /> inherent in City . <br /> Commissioner Dragan stated his changing philosophies since working with <br /> Commission and trying to promote cultural aspects for community in that he <br /> felt best use possible should be made of all City facilities , including <br /> school facilities , to make culture and ongoing program . It was noted many <br /> ideas which were being studied by their group featuring historical and <br /> cultural aspects of. City , such as a museum eventually , but meanwhile bring- <br /> ing interest downtown through front store window displays and involvement <br /> of everyone ; use of Easter Bowl , similar. to Stern Grove in San Francisco , <br /> with proper improvements , ideas for light operas and ballets , and many <br /> other areas being explored for cultural programs for entire City . <br /> Commissioner Buickerrood then noted their Commission had been operating with- <br /> out budgeted funds or staffing , but understood some funds were to be in - <br /> cluded in next fiscal year for this purpose . He then reported on possi- <br /> bility of making an application for matching funds from ABAG since there <br /> had been some endowment of Federal funding made for art , and reported that <br /> Burlingame and Sari Carlos are making such applications . Tf this were a <br /> possibility it was noted how their Commission could plan more involved <br /> programs than those supported mainly by their own efforts and voluntary <br /> support by others , as with the recent art festival . <br /> 5/5/73 <br /> Adj.
