381
( f ) Approval of request by Vice -Mayor Henderson and Councilman Leipzig for a
Pacific Telephone and Telegraph trip to visit communications installations ,
on May 17 and 18 . ( MWJTE ORDER #73-64 )
Vice -Mayor Henderson reminded Council of a meeting on Tuesday , May 8 , at 8 : oo
p . m . , regarding candidates for the Fair. Oaks Neighborhood Facility Advisory
Board .
Councilman Rhodes moved to approve CONSENT CALENDAR , Items ( a ) , ( c ) , ( d ) , ( e )
and ( f ) , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried .
COMMUNICATIONS :
( a ) Written - Copies submitted to Council .
1 . Rick Thurber , 1583 Oxford St . , #1I , requesting that the matter of City ' s
financial support of Harbor District ' s plan to develop Pillar Point
into a yacht harbor be placed on Council agenda .
Councilman Rhodes felt that the letter seemed to imply a belief that the
City Council appropriates money for this District , whereas funds are
derived by taxing authority given to the District by the voters in the
County . He referred to a news article that may have misled people into
believing the Council would be making an appropriation .
Vice-Mayor Henderson noted that some weeks ago a report had been received
from LAFCo on the question of whether it was felt Redwood City property
owners should be required to subsidize construction of the harbor project ,
which had been referred to staff for report and recommendation . City
Manager indicated this would be brought back to Council in about a month .
( Memo 5/8/73 )
2 . John J . Brophy , 626 Jefferson Avenue , requesting on behalf of retired
City employees that health insurance benefits for dependents be paid
in full .
3 . Mobil Oil Estates Limited , 1333 West Georgia Street , Vancouver , B . C . ,
offering to provide funds to purchase a motorcycle to be used for
patrolling open areas of Redwood Peninsula by Redwood City Police
Department .
Councilman Norris inquired whether , in addition to the motorcycle , there
would be any signs posted on the chain link fence , and whether this
would be done by the developer . Captain Bold responded that this was
part of the program being worked up , to determine the proper kind of
posting , and who actually would be responsible to post . He indicated
there were discussions with Mobil Estates .
5/7/73
Reg . Mtg .
