401
I
construction plans have not yet been prepared ; however , with this kind and
amount of information at this time , environmental impact reports can be
drawn up . A couple of the sensitive areas were mentioned such as the
proximity to the Airport--the location with respect to a former slough
bed and the concerns with water supply and sewer disposal , and traffic
area .
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6909 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZ-
ING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR PERSONAL SERVICES FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT , seconded by Councilman Norris and carried on
roll call vote .
Request for Variance - Location of driveways at the northerly corner of Whipple
Avenue and Industrial Way . ( Written Report was submitted to Council . ) A
drawing was shown on the screen and in answer to question as to the possi-
bility of compromising safety, Director of Public Works clarified the need
to enlarge the existing curb return to allow easier turning movements from
a proposed right-turn lane for westbound traffic on Whipple Avenue . In
order to accomplish the proposed work, however , additional right-of-way
will have to be acquired from the existing service station property . City
would be able to obtain the right-of-way if the variance is granted , and
construction will be at no expense to the City .
Councilman Norris moved to authorize granting of Variance as recommended ,
seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #73--66 )
Disposal of surplus City property in rear of 1615 to 1725 Maddux Drive .
( Report was submitted to Council . ) A drawing was presented on the screen
showing the additional property situated between the rear property lines
and the fence of the recently constructed storm drain channel, varying
from zero feet to twenty-four feet .
Councilman Henderson expressed concern as to whether or not these lots
would become large enough to be possible candidates for split-lot develop-
ment or pan-handle kind of development . In the ensuing discussion it was
noted this would be a difficult circumstance because of the lot widths ,
and since these lots presently are developed with single family homes on
them . It was also noted that Council might condition the disposal of the
rear property, but future Councils would not be bound by this condition .
City Attorney advised, in answer to question regarding access for creek
maintenance , that this is included in bid instructions . City also re-
serves right to reject all bids , and one reason might be if not all
parcels can be sold .
5/21/73
Reg . Mtg .
