Waterfront Development Plan <br /> The Waterfront Committee was nearing completion of their preparation and <br /> presentation of the over-view monographs which would serve as the basis for <br /> the Waterfront Development Plan . These monographs would include the subjects <br /> of : Port of Redwood City, Marinas and Waterways , Redwood Shores , National <br /> Wildlife Refuge , and Airport and Industries , coming out in the form of a <br /> booklet with the background , historical and factual information available <br /> to the Council , Commissions and civic groups in the community . This in- <br /> formation would act as a springboard for the Committee in terms of putting <br /> the actual plans together . <br /> CONSTRUCTION PERMITS : During May, Building Permits had been issued for <br /> eleven new dwelling units . As a result of informal abatement proceedings , <br /> three dwelling units had been demolished . Significant new construction <br /> consisted of one six unit apartment , one commercial building , one office <br /> building , and an addition to the Salvation Army building . All residential <br /> construction within the moratorium restrictions had been completed in <br /> Redwood Shores . <br /> TRANSPORTATION : In the general area of transportation as opposed to the <br /> operating area, as opposed to transportation planning , the Assembly Com- <br /> mittee on Transportation had given a " do pass " recommendation to AB 1488 , <br /> introduced by Assemblyman Arnett at Redwood City ' s request . The bill now <br /> goes to the Senate Transportation Committee , where opposition is expected . <br /> If this bill ( introduced for Redwood City as an urgency measure ) is signed <br /> into law , it would mean that the City would be able to divert $63 , 000 ( FY <br /> 1973-74 ) to other general fund purposes and an estimated $325 , 000 through <br /> FY 1976-77 , at which time the present restrictions , as set forth in SB 325 , <br /> would again become effective . <br /> Each Department had been implementing procedures to reduce gasoline usage . <br /> The City had experienced some minor inconvenience in gasoline delivery but <br /> there had been no impairment of municipal services due to the gasoline short- <br /> age . However , each Department had been directed to implement procedures to <br /> reduce gasoline usage without reducing service . <br /> PARK AND RECREATION : A letter of intent had been prepared and forwarded to <br /> ABAG for consideration for a grant of funds from the National Foundation of <br /> Arts to assist in supporting the cultural arts ' activities of the community . <br /> ( Copy of letter had been sent to Council with the reasoning behind it . ) The <br /> administrative services of the Park and Recreation Department have been fully <br /> integrated at . the department headquarters office in the Community Activities <br /> Building .
