458 <br /> Mr . Ray Worley , 887 Wattemire St . , Belmont , Building <br /> Industry Association , stated that the Code already <br /> provided for requirement of sprinkler systems in <br /> structures having 12 , 000 sq . ft . of floor space , and <br /> noted other situations where sprinkler systems are <br /> already required . He felt that the best approach <br /> would be to adopt the 1973 Code . <br /> It was noted by Mayor Keckley that Staff had indicated when the time was - <br /> appropriate to do so , they would recommend adoption of the 19 73 Code , <br /> Mr . Joseph Lodi , 1834 Jefferson Avenue , former Fire <br /> Chief of Redwood City, spoke in support of the <br /> proposed ordinance , stating that he had long favored <br /> such a requirement , and that fire personnel were in <br /> the best position to know about fire prevention and <br /> their views should be heard . He urged that Council - <br /> support the ordinance . <br /> Councilman Leipzig moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 12 . 14 , 1 to the <br /> Code of the City of Redwood City, relating to Automatic Sprinkler Systems , <br /> seconded by Councilman Norris and carried on roll call vote . <br /> REPORT OF BID OPENINGS : <br /> RESOLUTION NO . 6949 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE FURNISHING OF ONE BRUSH CHIPPER , <br /> TRAILER MODEL; AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED . <br /> Staff recommended award to Western Traction Co . , the low bidder in the <br /> amount of $ 5 , 507 . 25 . Funds were available in the 1973 -74 Budget . <br /> RESOLUTION NO , 6950 AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR FURNISHING OF MATERIALS FOR ASPHALTIC <br /> EMULSIONS , CRUSHER-RUN ROCK, ROCK SCREENINGS , FINE AGGREGATES , ASPHALTIC CON- <br /> CRETE AND PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1973 -1974 ; <br /> REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED ; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACTS FOR <br /> FURNISHING OF SAID MATERIALS ; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSITS . <br /> Staff recommended award to the low bidders , Granite Rock Company , Edgewood <br /> Materials , Inc . , and Pacific Ready Mix , Inc . , for specified materials . <br /> RESOLUTION NO , 6951 AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR FURNISHING OF BRASS FITTINGS . <br /> Staff recommended award to Crane Supply Company , San Jose ; Water Works Supply <br /> & Mfg .
