(Offi - <br /> cial claim form forwarded by City Clerk . ) <br /> )4 Eddie Mae Spiller , Chairman , The Emergency Hunger Fund of Redwood <br /> City , requesting $ 500 of Federal Revenue Sharing Funds for their <br /> program . ( Communication in support of this request from The <br /> American National Red Cross , Golden Gate Chapter , Regional Assis - <br /> tant Director , Mrs . Ruth B . Miles . ) <br /> Councilman Rhodes acknowledged this fund as being a very fine charity <br /> to which individuals and service groups should contribute , but <br /> opposed the use of taxpayers ' money for the purpose . Vice -Mayor <br /> Henderson noted that the recommended action was referral to Staff <br /> for a report back and no vote was intended as to whether or not to <br /> appropriate the funds . Councilman Rhodes stated that he opposed <br /> referring the request to Staff and felt that it would establish a <br /> precedent for many similar requests . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to refer the request to Staff for recommendation , <br /> seconded by Councilman Norris . Councilman Norris asked that with the report <br /> back to Council an indication be given of the degree of involvement of the <br /> City in support of this activity and all others . Motion carried on roll call <br /> vote , Councilman Rhodes voting no , and Councilman Leipzig and Mayor Keckley <br /> being noted absent . <br /> City Clerk was instructed by Vice -Mayor Henderson to convey to Mrs . Spiller <br /> the action taken by Council so that she would be aware . <br /> (Memo 8/7/73 ) <br /> 5 . James D . Rowbotham , 4208 -14 Farm Hill Blvd . , requesting Council <br /> consideration for extension of bus service on Farm Hill Boulevard , <br /> due to additional apartment construction and apparent need . <br /> (Recommendation was to refer to Transportation Committee . ) <br /> 6 . St . Jude Children ' s Research Hospital (ALSAC ) , notification of <br /> planning for their 1st Annual Torch Relay on September 22nd from <br /> San Francisco South through Peninsula to San Jose , and then North <br /> 1 <br /> to Oakland , and asking for Council ' s support and/or participation . <br /> 7 . M . D . Tarshes , County Manager , requesting action by Council to <br /> indicate City ' s intentions regarding solid waste planning pursuant <br /> to the new State law , including a proposed Resolution , ( City <br /> Manager ' s report was submitted to Council . ) Vice -Mayor Henderson <br /> indicated that if Council desired to support the request , it was <br /> the recommendation of Staff that a resolution be adopted to that <br /> effect : <br /> 8/6/73 <br /> Reg .
