Building Inspection Department had proc - <br /> essed 1 , 130 permits this year , compared with 1 , 625 for same period last year . <br /> Parks and Recreation . Parks and Recreation Commission reorganized itself into <br /> five committees : ( 1 ) Design and Development ; ( 2 ) Operation Policies ; ( 3 ) Com- <br /> munity Relations ; (4 ) Community Park ; ( 5 ) Open Space . In July , the Department <br /> initiated a study to determine the scope and direction of possible revisions <br /> and additions to the City Code relating specifically to parks . Findings of <br /> the study were to be presented to the Operational Policies Committee of Parks <br /> and Recreation Commission for evaluation and discussion . Commission would use <br /> this information in recommending new park ordinances for adoption . Study is <br /> also under way to assemble , evaluate and determine marina operational policies , <br /> procedures and practices . Study of fees would also be included . Red Morton <br /> Community Park . First phase of construction now under way . Structures slated <br /> for removal , located toward South end of the park , had been demolished , with <br /> rough grading and underground drainage installation to follow . Resident Camp . <br /> Program at resident camp had been active , although participation was less than <br /> anticipated . Activities included building a rope bridge across a small canyon , <br /> rock climbing , a six -mile backpacking trip , cooking , crafts and swimming . To <br /> date 223 campers had attended . Day Camp . Sessions nearly full for the last <br /> three weeks of Day Camp . Senior Camp ( ages 9-12 ) would experience overnight <br /> camping trips and evening hikes . During July over 140 children participated . <br /> Red Morton Recreation Center . Priscilla Mosher , former Carlmont YMCA Program <br /> Director , had been selected new Recreation Center Supervisor and began work <br /> July 16 . She will be actively engaged in programming the Center for more teen <br /> programs and more activities for young girls . Little League . During week of <br /> July 23 -27 , the Third Annual Little League City Championship Tournament was <br /> conducted at Taft , Franklin , Kennedy , Kiwanis , Mitchell , and on July 27 , the <br /> City Championship Games were conducted . During the awards ceremony , the depart - <br /> ment helped kick off the PRIDE program , being conducted by former Fire Chief <br /> Joe Lodi and Director of Parks and Recreation Max Weeks . Park Division . Parks <br /> and Recreation Department , with particular help from the Park Division , was <br /> co - sponsoring with College of San Mateo an eight week course in arborculture . <br /> Several Park Division personnel are participating . Budget for Fiscal Year - ` <br /> 1973 -74 provided for planting trees at the boundary of Municipal Services <br /> Center , and will assist in screening the Center from Woodside Expressway and <br /> Freeway off-ramp . Public Works : TOPICS Project , Phase I , Traffic Signals on v _ <br /> Farm Hill Blvd . at Jefferson and Alameda , should be completed in near future . <br /> Baywater Intake Structure (Belpipe ) Project in Redwood Shores proceeding <br /> satisfactorily and should be completed in late August .
