Building Inspection Department had proc - essed 1 , 130 permits this year , compared with 1 , 625 for same period last year . Parks and Recreation . Parks and Recreation Commission reorganized itself into five committees : ( 1 ) Design and Development ; ( 2 ) Operation Policies ; ( 3 ) Com- munity Relations ; (4 ) Community Park ; ( 5 ) Open Space . In July , the Department initiated a study to determine the scope and direction of possible revisions and additions to the City Code relating specifically to parks . Findings of the study were to be presented to the Operational Policies Committee of Parks and Recreation Commission for evaluation and discussion . Commission would use this information in recommending new park ordinances for adoption . Study is also under way to assemble , evaluate and determine marina operational policies , procedures and practices . Study of fees would also be included . Red Morton Community Park . First phase of construction now under way . Structures slated for removal , located toward South end of the park , had been demolished , with rough grading and underground drainage installation to follow . Resident Camp . Program at resident camp had been active , although participation was less than anticipated . Activities included building a rope bridge across a small canyon , rock climbing , a six -mile backpacking trip , cooking , crafts and swimming . To date 223 campers had attended . Day Camp . Sessions nearly full for the last three weeks of Day Camp . Senior Camp ( ages 9-12 ) would experience overnight camping trips and evening hikes . During July over 140 children participated . Red Morton Recreation Center . Priscilla Mosher , former Carlmont YMCA Program Director , had been selected new Recreation Center Supervisor and began work July 16 . She will be actively engaged in programming the Center for more teen programs and more activities for young girls . Little League . During week of July 23 -27 , the Third Annual Little League City Championship Tournament was conducted at Taft , Franklin , Kennedy , Kiwanis , Mitchell , and on July 27 , the City Championship Games were conducted . During the awards ceremony , the depart - ment helped kick off the PRIDE program , being conducted by former Fire Chief Joe Lodi and Director of Parks and Recreation Max Weeks . Park Division . Parks and Recreation Department , with particular help from the Park Division , was co - sponsoring with College of San Mateo an eight week course in arborculture . Several Park Division personnel are participating . Budget for Fiscal Year - ` 1973 -74 provided for planting trees at the boundary of Municipal Services Center , and will assist in screening the Center from Woodside Expressway and Freeway off-ramp . Public Works : TOPICS Project , Phase I , Traffic Signals on v _ Farm Hill Blvd . at Jefferson and Alameda , should be completed in near future . Baywater Intake Structure (Belpipe ) Project in Redwood Shores proceeding satisfactorily and should be completed in late August . Municipal Marina Park- ing Lot Lighting Project scheduled to be completed shortly , and lights 8/13/73 Reg . Mtg .
