City Attorney <br /> advised that City Council could either delay taking evidence , or proceed . <br /> Vice -Mayor Henderson invited Mr . Longo , the property owner forward . <br /> Mr . Joseph James Longo , 682 Oakview Way , <br /> Redwood City, stated that he was supposed <br /> to be represented by Mr . Peterson , but that <br /> he was out of town . He , therefore , asked for <br /> continuance of the public hearing to another <br /> date , so that his counsel could be present . <br /> At request by Vice -Mayor Henderson for a recommendation , City Attorney indicated <br /> that Council could honor the request , but that on the other hand , it was not <br /> apparent that Mr . Peterson had been involved in the matter before , Also , that <br /> apparently there had been a number of continuances and requests for accommoda- <br /> tion in the past . He indicated that adequate notice had been given for the <br /> purpose of representation and advising the owner , but the decision as to <br /> whether or not to continue the hearing was entirely a matter of discretion <br /> of City Council . Following a brief discussion , Chief Building Official was <br /> requested to comment on the advisability of a continuance . <br /> Chief Building Official noted that two separate properties under ownership of <br /> Mr , Longo were subject of public hearings at this time , and stated that , as <br /> his written reports indicated , particularly in the case of the property at <br /> 48 Laurel Street , he had attempted over many months to urge , suggest and <br /> request that Mr . Longo seek the advice of counsel , and it had been indicated <br /> to him on several occasions by either Mr . Longo or the tenant , Mrs . Daniels , <br /> that Mr .
