Spadia , of the San Francisco 49ers football team , had expressed concern with regard to current development on Red Morton Community Park and dirt mounds as work is proceeding , because of their desire to maintain privacy of their practice field . PUBLIC HEARING , Abatement of Nuisance , 2424 Jefferson Avenue , one - story , wooden frame dwelling , detached garage and accessory building , originally constructed in 1925 , declared open and affidavit of posting ordered filed . Chief Building Official Gyselbrecht was sworn in by the City Clerk , following which he indicated that prior to presenting evidence , he wished to advise that the owner of the structure , as well as the tenant , were present , but that he was informed legal counsel for the owner was not . City Attorney advised that City Council could either delay taking evidence , or proceed . Vice -Mayor Henderson invited Mr . Longo , the property owner forward . Mr . Joseph James Longo , 682 Oakview Way , Redwood City, stated that he was supposed to be represented by Mr . Peterson , but that he was out of town . He , therefore , asked for continuance of the public hearing to another date , so that his counsel could be present . At request by Vice -Mayor Henderson for a recommendation , City Attorney indicated that Council could honor the request , but that on the other hand , it was not apparent that Mr . Peterson had been involved in the matter before , Also , that apparently there had been a number of continuances and requests for accommoda- tion in the past . He indicated that adequate notice had been given for the purpose of representation and advising the owner , but the decision as to whether or not to continue the hearing was entirely a matter of discretion of City Council . Following a brief discussion , Chief Building Official was requested to comment on the advisability of a continuance . Chief Building Official noted that two separate properties under ownership of Mr , Longo were subject of public hearings at this time , and stated that , as his written reports indicated , particularly in the case of the property at 48 Laurel Street , he had attempted over many months to urge , suggest and request that Mr . Longo seek the advice of counsel , and it had been indicated to him on several occasions by either Mr . Longo or the tenant , Mrs . Daniels , that Mr . Peterson had been employed as counsel ; however , he had heard nothing 8/13/73 Reg . Mtg .
