City Council had approved --
funding in the current Parks and Recreation budget , in order to continue to
subsidize the activities of the Police Youth Club . A sub -program had now
been established in the Recreation Division budget for this funding and a
proposed agreement would initiate implementation of the program as outlined
in report to Council . Councilman Norris felt that both in this matter and on
the previous agenda item there was insufficient information provided in order
to vote on the issue . Vice -Mayor Henderson suggested that this matter be held
over until the next meeting .
Councilman Norris moved to defer action on the Redwood City Police Youth Club -
Recreational Services , until August 27 , 1973 , seconded by Councilman Leipzig
and carried . Specifications had been prepared by staff and funds were available
in the current budget for conversion of storm drain grates . Director of
Public Works indicated that the equipment would be necessary as being the
only means of clearing the new storm drain grates of leaves and debris . Motion
carried on roll call vote , Councilman Williams and Mayor Keckley being noted
absent .
Agreements re Soils Engineering Services - Mobil-Redwood Shores Water Storage Tank .
Staff report indicated that before proceeding with construction of the water
storage facility , it would be necessary to conduct soils investigation . It
was recommended that City enter into an agreement with the firm of Dames and
Moore for those services , in an amount not to exceed $ 5 , 000 . Although it had
been determined that the water storage facility was a District responsibility ,
the developer , Mobil Oil Estates ( Redwood ) Limited , had agreed to assume the
cost for soils investigation in order to expedite the work . It was therefore
recommended that Council further approve an agreement with the developer pro -
viding for reimbursement of these costs to the City .
Councilman Norris noted that he had not seen the agreement , and asked whether
this tank would meet the full requirements for Redwood Shores or whether
additional tank would be necessary . Director of Public Works responded that
the proposed water tank would meet the moratorium requirements , but not the
8/13/73
Reg . Mtg .
