308 <br /> owners . Belpipes : City now has received all necessary approvals for <br /> construction of the Belmont Slough water intake structure , and project <br /> is expected to go to bid this Spring . <br /> Parks and Recreation : Stulsaft Master Plan Committee had evaluated <br /> several landscape consultant firms , and selected Theodore Osmundson . <br /> Renovation of all baseball diamonds and the spraying of ash and <br /> sycamore trees are continuing . Meetings were being held between <br /> Recreation staff and a School District Committee to review joint <br /> programs under agreement to provide direction for joint maintenance <br /> of school grounds . It was hoped that recommendations would be ready <br /> for Council consideration in connection with the 1973 -74 budget . <br /> Application would be made shortly to the California Commission on <br /> Aging for a grant to provide a senior citizens coordinator and perhaps <br /> other programs for senior citizens , In the interim , City has provided <br /> o ffice space , desk and telephone in the 900 Main Street building for <br /> u se by Bernice Neilson , of the Fun-After-Fifty Club , and this function <br /> is assigned to the Department of Parks and Recreation to coordinate <br /> w ith other programs under that Department . <br /> Public Safety : Remodeling of the Police Department lobby had been <br /> completed , including walnut paneling , counter and reception desk, <br /> w ith a receptionist and phone operator stationed at this location <br /> to provide better service . Police Department had received seven <br /> 1973 replacement patrol vehicles , built to specifications of the <br /> California Highway Patrol . <br /> Sten Mawson , Administrative Assistant in the Fire Department , began <br /> work on February 16 , 1973 . Mr . Mawson was in attendance at the meeting <br /> with Fire Chief Keller , and was presented to Council . During February , <br /> the Fire Department responded to 139 calls , 36 of which were fires . <br /> In response to question by Councilman Norris , City Manager indicated <br /> that the remainder represented a number of other emergency type <br /> services . <br /> Library : Judy Klapproth had been appointed Assistant City Librarian , <br /> in charge of public services - operation of Main Library , Schaberg <br /> Branch , the Audio-Visual Center now being established , and the new <br /> branch to be located in the Fair Oaks Community Center . <br /> Public Works : Contract had been awarded by the State Department of <br /> Public Works to Guy F . Atkinson Company in the amount of $1 , 056 , 229 , <br /> 3 /12/73 <br /> Reg . Mtg . <br />
