" PROBE" Community Center , division of Redwood City Area Council <br /> for Community Action , Inc . , requesting representation as Agenda <br /> item at Council meeting of April 9th to request City either <br /> finance their their existing programs or develop City ' s own <br /> programs to meet the needs of the poverty community . <br /> Recommendation : Schedule for presentation on <br /> Council Agenda April 9th , <br /> Councilman Henderson requested addition of communication as follows : <br /> 3 . California Traffic Safety Foundation , 564 Market Street , San <br /> Francisco , concerning the existence of " tank traps " ( concrete <br /> base installations around traffic control devices and electroliers ) <br /> in Redwood City , on Veterans Boulevard , and requesting action to <br /> remove them . <br /> Recommendation : Refer to Staff for report , including <br /> indication of schedule for elimination <br /> of " tank traps " . <br /> Councilman Henderson moved to accept COMMUNICATIONS and authorize implementa- <br /> tion of recommendations , seconded by Councilman Williams and carried . <br /> ( MINUTE ORDER #73-49 ) <br /> Mayor Keckley noted that the local newspaper had printed an article pertaining <br /> to the plight of the Navajo Indians in Arizona, and a direct request by <br /> Chief Lee Gonnie for aid . They have been snowed in for a number of months , <br /> and in need of food , blankets , and funds to purchase feed for their stock . <br /> He indicated that Mrs . Fred B . Turner was coordinating the assistance , and <br /> that the Western Conference of Teamsters had volunteered two trucks to <br /> carry the supplies to a point in Arizona from where they could be airlifted <br /> by helicopter to the village . Mayor Keckley urged that publicity be given, <br /> and hoped that through service clubs and other groups , citizens would re- <br /> spond with contributions and assistance in loading the trucks by the end <br /> of this week . Mrs . Turner spoke briefly concerning the appeal . City <br /> Manager advised that an account would be set up to receive any contribu- <br /> tion of funds payable to Low Mountain Chapter House . <br /> Councilman Henderson moved to adjourn at 11 : 25 p .m . to Executive Session for <br /> discussion of matters relating to litigation , seconded by Councilman Norris <br /> and carried . <br /> Regular Meeting reconvened at 11 : 45 p . m. , and was thereafter adjourned on motion <br /> of Councilman Henderson , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried . <br /> Meeting adjourned at 11 : 46 p . m . <br /> MARIAN McCRINDLE <br /> 4/2/73 City Clerk <br /> Reg .
