M . <br /> Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Weymouth . <br /> Invocation was led by Reverend John Uhlig , Redeemer Lutheran Church . <br /> ON ROLL CALL , the following were noted present : Councilmen Mary W . Henderson , <br /> Marguerite Leipzig , Robert E , Norris , William C . Rhodes , Ray A . Weymouth , <br /> James S . Williams , Mayor Paul C . Keckley , and City Clerk Marian McCrindle . <br /> Also noted present were City Manager James M . Fales , Jr . , City Attorney <br /> David E . Schricker , Assistant City Manager James M . Smith , Police Chief <br /> John R . McDonald , Jr . , Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht , <br /> Planning Director Ken Schroeter , Controller Jack Ference , Deputy <br /> Director of Public Works , Operations Warren J . Mitchell , Acting Deputy <br /> Director of Public Works , Engineering Services Fred Sennewald , Construction <br /> Engineer William T . Martin and Deputy City Clerk Frances I . Reggetts . <br /> The following Government Affairs Program students were noted present on <br /> roll call : Julie Gaddini , Patti Bury , John Goodrich , Ed Velasquez , Mike <br /> Borissenko , Mike Hite and Brock Riddle . <br /> Councilman Norris moved to approve , as submitted , Minutes of Regular Meeting <br /> of May 1 , 1972 , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried . <br /> COMMUNITY PROGRESS REPORT . <br /> City Manager read the report in full at request of Council . Community Development <br /> Housing Report had been completed by staff and was being reviewed by Housing <br /> Concerns Committee . Report was preliminary to the Housing Element of the <br /> General Plan . Among the findings was the fact that , because of aging, <br /> as much as 1/3rd of City ' s housing may require replacement within the <br /> next 20 years , and equally as many living units may be needed to <br /> accommodate population increases . <br /> Proposed Housing Element of San Mateo County General Plan was presented <br /> to Board of Supervisors on April 25 . They , in turn , referred it to <br /> County Planning Commission who will set a date for public hearing on May 10 . <br /> Total value of new construction for April was $720 , 240 , $136 , 700 in <br /> residential construction ; $436 , 500 in commercial , and $147 , 040 in <br /> alterations . Significant new buildings included the jungle theater at <br /> Marine World and the R&B Furniture Store at 2750 El Camino . Three <br /> buildings were demolished as result of City inspection , without resorting <br /> to formal abatement proceedings . Six houses were completed in Redwood <br /> Shores . Including additional plumbing fixtures involved in Marine World <br /> remodeling , the equivalent of 149 permits have been issued since imposition <br /> 5-8-72 <br />
