3 8
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6666 DESIGNATING AND RENAMING
THE MUNICIPAL PARK PRESENTLY KNOWN AS " COMMUNITY PARK " AS THE "RED MORTON
COMMUNITY PARK " , seconded by Councilman Keckley .
The Park and Recreation Commission had unanimously recommended to Council ,
along with numerous similar proposals of others in the community , that
Community Park be renamed in memory of "Red " Morton . Mayor Bury advised
that he had been contacted by Howard L . Bogie , Recreation Program Director
of the Department of Parks and Recreation , Seattle , Washington , who would
be attending a National Softball Directors ' meeting , and would be looking
forward to telling that group that Council had taken this action . Councilman
Henderson indicated that she hoped Council would , in addition to adopting
the Resolution , authorize selection of a site within the Park for placement
of an appropriate plaque with landscaped surroundings , as a perpetual
reminder , and suggested that guidance would be needed from Park and
Recreation Commission for a location . Councilman Weymouth asked that the
suggestion be made an addendum to his motion , seconded by Councilman Keckley
and carried on a roll call vote , Councilman Petersen being noted absent .
(MINUTE ORDER #72 -10)
CONSENT CALENDAR :
(a ) Adoption of ORDINANCE NO , 1520 APPROPRIATING FOLLOWING AMOUNTS FROM
UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCES OF DESIGNATED FUNDS : $103 , 060 FROM BUDGETED
RESERVE OF GENERAL FUND ; $ 10 , 772 FROM RETIREMENT FUND ; $10 , 238 FROM
WATER FUND ; $4 , 523 FROM SEWER FUND ; $6 , 519 FROM LIBRARY FUND ; $312
FROM MARINA REVENUE FUND ; AND , $271 FROM CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
METER REVENUE FUND , TO DESIGNATED APPROPRIATIONS AND DEPARTMENTS FOR
PURPOSES OF PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT OF SALARIES , CITY ' S CONTRIBUTION
TO EMPLOYEES ' RETIREMENT PLAN, AND OTHER EMPLOYEE COSTS .
Ordinance was introduced at Council meeting
of January 10 , 1972 and had been published .
( b ) DAMAGE CLAIM, Peter Michael Gra.nara , 49 Orchard Ave . , for personal
injuries allegedly sustained in an auto -pedestrian accident due to
negligent maintenance of intersection .
