5E; <br /> City Manager announced that copies cf the Five Year Capital. Improvement Program <br /> had been unavoidably slightly delayed in printing process but were expected <br /> to be delivered by City Controller before end of the meeting . He advised <br /> copies were being submitted for Council ' s study prior to the Council ' s <br /> adjourned regular meeting scheduled for June 17th , 8 : 00 a . m . , Veterans <br /> Memorial Building . He noted copies were also being distributed to the City ' s <br /> Boards and Commissions and other interested civic groups in the community for <br /> their review prior to the meeting scheduled for Saturday . ( City Controller <br /> presented the copies of the proposed Five Year Capital Improvement Program at <br /> 8 : 45 p . m . ) <br /> COMMUNITY PROGRESS REPORT <br /> City Manager read in full the report which had been submitted to Council for bene - <br /> fit of those present . Community Development - Total of 75 new building <br /> permits were issued during May , comprising two office buildings on 303 and <br /> 333 Bradford ; service station , 1510 El Camino ; 110 unit apartment complex , <br /> 707 Leahy Street ; triplex , 1364 Valota Road ; duplex , l442 Kentfield , for a <br /> total value of new construction in May for 32 , 405 , 452 . Also noted 4o permits <br /> were renewed by American Housing Guild and 33 dwellings completed in Redwood <br /> Shores . Mobil Oil Estates reported to be still vigorously pursuing its <br /> studies on the acquisition of Redwood Shores , with City staff having had <br /> numerous recent meetings on questions relating to bonds , assessments , taxes , <br /> types of possible developments and improvements , etc , Other information sub - <br /> mitted previously dealt with information as to cost benefits , indicating an <br /> annual operating cost of $ 173 , 000 versus ad valorem taxes of $180 , 000 . When <br /> City overhead , exclusive of GID 1 - 64 , are included with the expenditures , <br /> cost approximates property tax revenues . <br /> Parks and Recreation - Renovation of the T"4 er " field was noted to be 95% <br /> complete . Anticipating further improvement in. Red Morton Park , the City has <br /> obtained excess dirt from the Hetch -Hetchy projects and will be spreading <br /> some 5 - 10 thousand yards of fill along the recently completed storm drain . <br /> Skylawn Cemetery has returned the maintenance of Union Cemetery to the City , <br /> which will cause additional maintenance work for the Division of Parks . The <br /> catwalk for the Marina is being constructed and should be Installed by the <br /> end of the month . It was also noted the Department of Buildings and Trans - <br /> portation has completed the remodeling of the Recreation Center and the <br /> construction of the Stafford Park comfort stations . <br /> Personnel - Redwood City to be participating in the federally funded <br /> Neighborhood Youth Corps program this summer with sixteen resident youths <br /> 6 - 12 -72 <br />
