Councilman Henderson commented on her <br /> conversations in Sacramento with Senator Gregorio , and that she was <br /> immediately contacted by Division of Highways who were interested in <br /> locations of these problem grates , and would walk the length of <br /> Woodside Road in their investigation . City Manager indicated that <br /> as funds are available , the project could be moved up in priority <br /> if that was the desire . Following brief additional discussion , <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to place the storm drain grate conversions <br /> into the 1972 -73 Budget , seconded by Councilman Henderson . Acting <br /> Deputy Director of Public Works noted he had spoken with representatives <br /> on the industry who had talked with the State , and further studies <br /> are being. made for conversion kits to convert existing grates , rather <br /> than replace . He stated the ones being installed are considerably <br /> more expensive than the one to which the State had just given preliminary <br /> a.pnroval . Motion carried . (MINUTE ORDER 72 -120 ) <br /> Street Improvements . City Manager noted proposals in this segment <br /> were rather extensive and had been gone through during, the discussions <br /> of the Operating Budget , and invited questions . In response to question <br /> by Councilman Williams , he advised that all of the plans for Downtown <br /> would include landscaping . Councilman Henderson expressed concern <br /> regarding the unsafe concrete blocks into which lights and signals <br /> are set on Veterans Blvd . , and asked if plans included modernization <br /> of these . City Manager advised these would be carefully looked at <br /> before final recommendations are made and that light standards them - <br /> selves would be part of the Improvement Plan . Councilman Weymouth <br /> referred to the list of unallocated projects , noting that Hudson <br /> Street was not included . City Manager indicated the list comprised <br /> suggestions that flowed from the Alameda project , and that Hudson <br /> would be an important element in the General Plan . Acting Deputy <br /> Director of Public Works advised that there was a new recommendation <br /> in his department and that they would no longer be using " tank traps " . <br /> Also , a survey was made of all locations of these and different ways <br /> of removing them , along with cost estimates . This was begun about <br /> two months earlier , and a recommendation is to be made to City Manager , <br /> Water System Improvements . City Manager indicated that in addition <br /> to previously listed projects , transfer to operating budget for remedial <br /> installations throughout the system was recommended , as half mainten - <br /> ance , half capital expenditure type item . The first major project <br /> item . The first major project listed was Emerald Lakes Water System <br /> and. second was Friendly Acres Water System .
