Councilman Norris moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6743 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING PREMIUM GASOLINE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1 , 1972 , THROUGH JUNE 30 , 1973 ; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT THEREFOR ; AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED , seconded by Councilman Rhodes . Staff report indicated that four bids were received on which staff recommended award for premium gasoline requirements only , to the low bidder , Atlantic Richfield Co . , and that bids be readvertised for low -lead requirements . Mayor K;eckley advised of having received communi - cation .from State General Services , who claim they can offer low rates for purchases through them . City Manager indicated the staff is inquiring into that process nog. .r , as well as the question of cooperative purchasing with other cities . Mr . Sidney Herkner , 55 Turnsworth , spoke in reference to one of the supplierTs making a bid on all or none , which he indicated was for economic reasons . He also expressed the hope the City would not increase use of high -lead fuel , not only for reasons of cost , but because of the higher amount of lead added to air pollution . City Manager responded that not only were they trying to reduce amount of premium gasoline used , but are also planning to investigate next year the possibilities involved with use of natural gas , and that efforts are being made now to at least experiment with it . 6-19-.72 Reg .
