Motion carried on roll call vote . <br /> Councilman Williams moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6741 AWARDING CONTRACT <br /> FOR FURNISHING O EF' CAST IRON AND DUCTILE IRON PIPE REQUIREMENTS FOR <br /> THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1 , 1972 , THROUGH JUNE 30 , <br /> 1973 , seconded by Councilman Rhodes . Report indicated two bids were <br /> received for these materials on which staff recommended award of bid <br /> to the low bidder , U . S . Staff report indicated three <br /> bids were received for which staff recommended award to Jones Chemicals , <br /> Inc . , the low bidder , in the amount of * 120 . 61.4` per. ton . Motion carried <br /> on roll call vote . <br /> Councilman Norris moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6743 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR <br /> FURNISHING PREMIUM GASOLINE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1 , 1972 , <br /> THROUGH JUNE 30 , 1973 ; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT THEREFOR ; <br /> AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED , seconded by Councilman Rhodes . <br /> Staff report indicated that four bids were received on which staff <br /> recommended award for premium gasoline requirements only , to the low <br /> bidder , Atlantic Richfield Co . , and that bids be readvertised for <br /> low -lead requirements . Mayor K;eckley advised of having received communi - <br /> cation .from State General Services , who claim they can offer low rates <br /> for purchases through them . City Manager indicated the staff is <br /> inquiring into that process nog. .r , as well as the question of cooperative <br /> purchasing with other cities . <br /> Mr . Sidney Herkner , 55 Turnsworth , spoke in reference <br /> to one of the supplierTs making a bid on all or none , <br /> which he indicated was for economic reasons . He also <br /> expressed the hope the City would not increase use of <br /> high -lead fuel , not only for reasons of cost , but because of <br /> the higher amount of lead added to air pollution . <br /> City Manager responded that not only were they trying to reduce amount <br /> of premium gasoline used , but are also planning to investigate next <br /> year the possibilities involved with use of natural gas , and that <br /> efforts are being made now to at least experiment with it . <br /> 6-19-.72 <br /> Reg .
