147 Minutes of Regular Meeting Redwood City Council August 21 , 1972 7 : 30 p . m . Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Henderson . Invocation was led by Monsignor Joseph D . Munier , Our Lady of Mt . Carmel Church . ON ROLL CALL , the following were noted present : Councilmen Mary W . Henderson , Marguerite Leipzig , Robert E. Norris , William C . Rhodes , Mayor Paul C . Keckley and Deputy City Clerk Frances I . Reggetts . Councilmen Ray A . Weymouth and James S . Williams were noted absent . Also noted present were City Manager James M . Fales , Jr . , Assistant City Attorney Clark Maloney , Assistant City Manager James M . Smith , City Controller Jack Ference , Deputy Police Chief Joel Mansfield , Planning Director Ken Schroeter , Acting Deputy Director of Public Works Fred Sennewald , Construction Engineer Bill Martin and Steno - grapher Anna Hampton . Councilman Norris moved to approve , as mailed , Minutes of Regular Meet - ing of August 14 , 1972 , seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried . Mayor Keckley presented the Certificate of Distinguished Service to Walter Small , retiring member of the Planning Commission , with appropriate remarks commending him for his service with the Planning Commission as well as his many other civic activities . Tony M . Gonzales accepted the Certificate of Distinguished Service from Mayor Keckley , who expressed appreciation for his having served on the Housing Concerns Committee . Loyalty Oath was administered by Deputy City Clerk to Mr . Gonzales , following which Mayor Keckley presented to him Certificate of Appointment to the Planning Commission . Richard J . Pusich , new Director of Public Works was introduced to Council by the City Manager . PUBLIC HEARING , Resolution of Intention of the Planning Commission to initiate proceedings to add Section 2 . 90 and add Article 35 , Ordinance No . 1130 , the Zoning Ordinance , relating to service stations , declared open and affidavit of publication ordered filed . Planning Commission made the finding after a public hearing on May 9, 1972 , that the proposed amendment would be in the best interests of the City as a whole , and to recommend to Council adoption of the proposed amendment .
