Mayor Bury felt <br /> that the concept of mini parks had proven successful , and <br /> noted that groups from Canada College and from Service Organi - <br /> zations had contributed to development of some of them , <br /> Panel On Recreation , Entertainment and Culture <br /> 2 . Supports the idea of City Council ' s appointing of a cultural <br /> commission to develop and coordinate cultural programs in <br /> the community hoping that commission will enlist the help of <br /> city officials , and other agencies , such as school districts , <br /> recreation department , and private sectors to enlist their <br /> facilities for such programs . <br /> Councilman Keckley noted that this was another item that has <br /> been completed in Redwood City , and that such a Commission had <br /> been appointed and was functioning . <br /> 5 . That the City of Redwood City and the Sequoia Union High School <br /> District look into the possibility of lighting their existing <br /> tennis courts . <br /> Councilman Henderson requested that the tennis courts in Andrew <br /> Spinas Park be considered in budget discussions , Mayor Bury <br /> concurred and indicated the suggestion would be referred to <br /> Park and Recreation Commission , and to City Manager for budget <br /> consideration . <br /> Senior Citizens Panel <br /> 1 , Housing : Resolved that Redwood City should adopt a policy of <br /> providing city assisted land purchase and that there should <br /> be a wider choice of housing in Redwood City for senior citizens . <br /> Councilman Keckley noted that Council did have a Housing Concerns <br /> Committee and that Council had set itself up as a Redevelopment <br /> Agency . Also , that as a result of meetings over the previous <br /> weekend , selection had been made of a Community Redevelopment <br /> and Housing Specialist to serve with the Housing Concerns <br /> Committee and bring recommendations to Council on ways and <br /> means for improving housing . <br /> l _24-72 <br />
