172
Carl Kriletich , 70 Foss Drive , felt that City
was expending excessive time and funds with
respect to Redwood Shores .
Betty Travers , 27 Lowell , commended the plan
submitted by the Land for. People .
Barbara Burney , President of Housing Develop-
ment Corporation of San Mateo County , stated
their group was formed for the purpose of pro -
viding low and moderate income housing and they
would be interested in purchasing some of the
Redwood Shores land for the purpose .
Councilman Norris read in full his written comments in response to the
proposal and his recommendations . (For full text , see City Clerk ' s
file -- Housing Concerns) . Councilman Henderson cautioned that
Redwood Shores was part of the City as a whole , and the whole City
must meet the needs of low income residents . Councilman Henderson
moved to accept the report to Staff with request they meet with
representatives of Land for People and that proposals in the report
be part of the Staff ' s consideration, seconded by Councilman Norris
and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #72 -171 )
Mayor Keckley ordered a five -minute recess at 9 : 07 p . m .
REPORT OF BID OPENINGS :
( 1 ) Street Sweeper , 4-Wheel . Only one bid was received , from Nixon-Egli
Equipment Co . , Inc . , in the amount of $16 , 835 . 00 . Unit satisfied
the specifications in all details and was recommended for award of
contract . Report was submitted to Council .
Councilman Rhodes moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6801 AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE FURNISHING OF ONE STREET SWEEPER , LATEST MODEL , seconded
by Councilman Henderson .
Carl Kriletich , 70 Foss Drive , complained
that the sweeper came into their area
very infrequently .
In response to question by Councilman Henderson , Director of
Buildings and Transportation advised that the cost of the previous
sweeper was $18 , 835 as compared to the current bid . Motion carried
on roll call vote .
(2 ) Offset Duplicator with On-Line Sorter . Two bids were received for
the equipment . Staff recommended award be made to the low bidder ,
Addressograph Multigraph Corp . , in the amount of $10 , 026 . 64 . Since
this was $658 over the budgeted funds , transfer would be required
from other funds available in the department .
Mr . Ronald A . Caselli , representing Xerox
Corporation , 450 Middlefield Road , Mountain
View , noted that for a number of years they were
principal supplier to Redwood City , and were
requested a few months earlier to do a survey
( relative to (heir copier ) and to review their
findings with City , which had been done . They
were informed late on the day of the meeting
that the matter of the offset duplicator would
be before Council for acceptance , so had no
opportunity to go over facts and figures and
prepare a rebuttal . He was therefore asking
for postponement . He indicated that it appeared
City was going to a less versatile , less productive ,
and more expensive system . According to their
survey, of 49 , 000 copies per month , approximately
14 , 000 would be one to three copies , with a higher
premium cost .
9/18/72
Reg .
