396 <br /> Councilman Weymouth advised he knew of at least one service organiza- <br /> tion that was participating in this program , including contributions . <br /> Robert Bills , 829 Jefferson , and a resident <br /> of Burlingame , advised he was Chairman of <br /> the Mental Health Committee under the <br /> Comprehensive Health Planning Council , and <br /> that a study was being conducted of needs in the <br /> County to determine where the under-- served areas <br /> were , and that the presentation of this decision <br /> would be made on February 26 , after which there <br /> would be recommendations involving public <br /> hearings . Based upon input from these meetings , <br /> they would be able to devise a plan for health <br /> care service in the County . He invited anyone <br /> to contact him as Chairman of the Mental Health <br /> Committee . <br /> Mr . Goldmacher stated that the County had not <br /> seen fit to appropriate funds . <br /> In the discussion , it was felt that the problem could not be solved <br /> on a city-by- city basis , and that it would be more successful under <br /> a broader consideration , such as the County . <br /> Steve Lockwood , 2740 Devonshire , felt that <br /> the suggestion was not realistic , in view of <br /> what the County had been doing in the past few <br /> years . He felt the City should take it upon <br /> itself to do something immediately . <br /> Doris Wood , 1504 Gordon , felt the drug situation <br /> had not received the necessary attention , and <br /> felt the County should be urged to action . <br /> Dan Freedman , 204 Inner Circle , spoke about <br /> need for immunity from prosecution of drug users . <br /> In the discussion , Councilman Keckley felt it was basically a County <br /> responsibility , and that a great deal was being done . <br /> Sang Du Kim stated that the Veterans <br /> Administration did not provide facilities <br /> for Veterans . <br /> 13 . That whereas we oppose the War in Vietnam . . . Therefore , we demand that <br /> the Redwood City Council in the near future put on its agenda and <br /> vote on the petition of the Women ' s Committee to Defend the Right to <br /> Live : to wit , that the City Council petition the President to set a <br /> definite date concerning the withdrawal of troops from Southeast Asia . <br /> (For full text , see City Clerk ' s file ) . <br /> Councilman Petersen stated that the total resolution was repugnant to <br /> him and felt that the proposal worded as this was , should not be <br /> deliberated . <br /> Councilman Petersen moved to strike this portion of the recommendations <br /> from the agenda , seconded by Councilman Rhodes . Councilman Weymouth <br /> concurred in the opposition to any council action concerning the war . <br /> Councilman Henderson opposed the motion to not hear Item 13 , since <br /> every other item directed to Council by the Congress had been considered , <br /> Councilman Williams felt that it should not be necessary to go through <br /> it again , since the matter had already been considered at previous <br /> meetings , Mayor Bury indicated he voted against this resolution at <br /> 1 -24-72 <br />
