She reported also regarding the City - School <br /> Liaison Committee meeting the previous week , also attended by Council - <br /> man Rhodes , and indication of cooperation from Sequoia High School <br /> District regarding lighting the tennis courts . City Manager indicated <br /> this was encouraging news and that originally this was what had been <br /> intended when funds were budgeted . However , after receiving the <br /> initial negative reaction from the High School District , City contacted <br /> Canada College and received nothing but encouragement from them . <br /> He noted that with Sequoia interested , City now was faced with two <br /> projects , but funds for only one . <br /> Vice -Mayor Henderson noted that Councilman Rhodes had been elected <br /> Chairman of the City- School Liaison Committee for the coming year , <br /> and also that Mayor Keckley had been nominated Vice -Chairman of the <br /> Council of Mayors . Commenting on the forthcoming retirement of <br /> Assistant City Librarian Janet Lauer , she commended the years of <br /> dedicated service and hoped that Council would take the opportunity <br /> to express appreciation . <br /> Vice -Mayor Henderson invited City Manager to comment with respect <br /> to City ' s capabilities to meet flooding problems at intersections <br /> publicized during the recent storms . City Manger responded that <br /> apparently some years ago , City was unable to handle run- off , and <br /> after a series of bond issues to finance construction of several <br /> storm drain projects , City was now at the top end of the spectrum <br /> in terms of cities on the Peninsula . He indicated that the flooded <br /> intersections were nowhere near as severe as five or more years ago , <br /> and that they occur when a substantial amount of rain falls in a <br /> Red .
