4 2 9 <br /> the recommendations , and felt abolishing the District would be in the best <br /> interests of the people in the area and that setting up a County Service Area <br /> would enable responsible administration by the County . <br /> Councilman Keckley offered a motion in two parts : ( 1 ) that City petition the Local <br /> Agency Formation Commission to initiate the actions necessary to abolish the <br /> District , and (2 ) that City petition Local Agency Formation Commission and <br /> the County Board of Supervisors to initiate actions necessary to form a <br /> County Service Area for structural fire protection purposes , said County Service <br /> Area to have boundaries co -terminus with those of the District , and City indicate <br /> a willingness to enter a contract with the County to provide such structural <br /> fire protection service to the County Service Area after it is formed , seconded <br /> by Councilman Williams . Councilman Williams noted that in the past in develop- <br /> ing rates for Dumbarton Fire District , these were discussed with and approved <br /> by the County as being fair and just . City Manager added that rates would <br /> be comparable to what citizens of the City are paying , and the only difference <br /> would be that instead of a governmental agency , the County Service Area would <br /> simply be a tax code area run by the County . Motion carried . (MINUTE ORDER <br /> #72 -40 ) , <br /> Personnel Recommendations : <br /> Resolution amending Sections 3 , 4 and 5 of Rule VIII of the Personnel Rules and <br /> Regulations of the City of Redwood City relating to examinations , <br /> Mr . Whitney Halteman , 4o86 Farm Hill Boulevard , <br /> Executive Officer , Peninsula Association of <br /> Public Employees , asked for more specific <br /> information regarding this resolution and that <br /> they would like a week to study the matter . <br /> Following brief discussion , Councilman Keckley moved to carry the matter over for one <br /> week , to the agenda of March 6 , 1972 , secaided by Councilman Rhodes and carried . <br /> (MINUTE ORDER #72 -41 ) <br /> Proposed Employee Dental Plan . The Memoranda of Understanding entered into <br /> with all three employee organizations provided for subsequent initiation of <br /> a dental plan during 1972 , Process of selecting a plan was now complete and <br /> initiation recommended . A detailed report was submitted to Council . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to authorize commencement of the Employee Dental Plan on <br /> March 1 , 1972 , and preparation of formal agreement with Equitable Life Assurance <br /> Society , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #72 --42 ) <br /> Mr . Halteman expressed appreciation for the <br /> proposed plan , and indicated he might later <br /> have recommendations for a better one in order <br /> that the City would get the best plan for the <br /> money . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6687 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br /> EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY OF SAN MATEO FOR EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT ACT <br /> FUNDS , seconded by Councilman Petersen . <br /> 2 -28-72 <br />
