1.1
Councilman Henderson expressed concern that the proposal recommended two
pedestrian overcrossings . Planning Director responded that the significance
of having them on the plan did not necessarily call for them to be built ,
but merely to indicate locations if they are to be built . Councilman Henderson
felt the wording in the plan should be amended to eliminate the phrase ,
"pedestrian over-- crossing " .
Peter Berzaman , 34 Murray Court , presented
a petition which he had circulated to
residents of the area opposing the "Woodside
Road Development Plan' , and stated they were
concerned their taxes would be raised as a
result ,
Mayor Bury commended him for his interest and effort , but assured him the
plan was not a blueprint , but that future development would be consistent
with present pattern . Councilman Petersen added that the plan was an effort
to do something positive to protect the people .
Mr , Berzaman stated the residents were not
informed and knew nothing about the proposed
plan .
Councilman Henderson pointed out the matter had been under consideration for
some time , and that three public hearings had been held by Planning Commission ,
previous to the present one before Council , and all were published in the
newspaper . Councilman Keckley indicated there seemed to be a misunderstanding
of what a general plan was , and that it was not the same as a zoning change , but
more a guideline to be used for future planning goals .
The petitions presented were ordered to be entered into the record as Exhibits
A , B and C .
Mr . C . E . Bunyard , 411 Woodside Road , advised
he owned property on Woodside Road , and requested
clarification of quasi -public designations .
Mr . Arthur Reisinger , 2628 Delaware , advised he
had attended all sessions . He commended the
Planning Commission for the plan, and expressed
the hope that Council would adopt it .
Councilman Petersen moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman
Keckley and carried .
Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6478 ADOPTING GENERAL PLAN OF
THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY - "WOODSIDE ROAD GENERAL PLAN" , City Attorney
recommended that if there were any modifications to the plan , this would be
the appropriate time for them to be made . After brief discussion , it was
determined that compliance with Councilman Hendersonis request could be
accomplished by deletion , under " Standards , Circulation " , the sentences
beginning "Pedestrian circulation, etc . , " and "Two pedestrian over-crossings
are indicated , etc . , " from the plan . Councilman Weymouth indicated he was
not able to support the total plan because of the multiple density residential
