116
COMMUNICATIONS :
1 . Request of County of San Mateo Human Relations Commission for several
members to address Council at meeting of May 3rd, concerning report on
public hearing held by them on Immigration and Naturalization Service and
the Redwood City Police Department .
City Manager indicated it was Staff recommendation to put the item on
agenda for May 3rd .
2 . County of San Mateo Water Quality Control Advisory Committee soliciting
comments with regard to proposals for a sub-regional plan to be developed
in the County for wastewater collection , treatment and disposal .
In the discussion , Council noted the request for response by April 30 ,
and indication that additional information should be obtained on what was
being proposed . City Manager noted the lead position that Redwood City
had taken with respect to the Strategic Consolidation Sewerage Plan , which
was rapidly reaching completion . He indicated Staff was generally in
concurrence with what was being proposed , but there were several points
they were not satisfied on with respect to the overall program, one being
the ability of this group to tax 5¢ per $ 100 , and another, the lack of
any mention of recycling, which ultimately would have to be considered in
any of this type program to some degree . He indicated that Staff position
at this time was that there was not enough definitive information to make
a concrete recommendation to Council to accept the proposal . Staff would
be in agreement with the general concept , but there were some areas of
conflict and a great number of unanswered questions . In response to
question by Councilman Williams , he advised that a member of Staff,
Warren Mitchell, was on the Committee .
Mayor Bury indicated he would respond, incorporating some of the comments
made , and asking for further material before asking Council to make a
commitment .
3 . " Californians for Revenue Sharing" , requesting Council support of a
Resolution petitioning Congressional representatives to approve a concept
of Federal revenue -sharing .
Mayor Bury asked that this be referred to Legislative Committee .
4 . California Water Resources Association enclosing informational articles
regarding subject of ecology .
5 . Mrs . Roberta Kirk, as a concerned resident , 1740 Kentucky Street ,
regarding downtown shopping area .
