It <br /> was requested that estimated costs for this alternative be included in a <br /> report . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to continue the matter for a period , at prerogative <br /> of Staff ( two or three weeks , June 7 or 14 agenda) , to permit them time to <br /> review and report back to Council , seconded by Councilman Henderson and <br /> carried . Staff report indicated the <br /> premises presently occupied by assignee , as authorized by Council , and <br /> present lease would terminate June 30 , 1971 . To continue rental use of <br /> the premises , it would be necessary to authorize bidding procedures . <br /> Motion carried on roll call vote . <br /> CONTRACT RENEWALS - Authorization for bidding procedures for Gasoline , Liquid <br /> Chlorine , Brass Fittings , Cast Iron and Ductile Iron Pipe , and Uniform <br /> Clothing Rental . <br /> Bid documents had been prepared for renewal of yearly contracts on each <br /> of the above items , which represent supplies and services required on an <br /> annual basis by various departments , purchased on "as needed " basis . <br /> Provisions were made in the respective budgets for Fiscal Year 1971-1972 , <br /> with quantities requested approximating those requested the previous year . <br /> (Report was submitted to Council ) <br /> Council expressed concern with respect to continuing use of premium <br /> gasoline . City Manager pro tem indicated that when new automobiles are <br /> purchased , it would be hoped they would be of the type that could utilize <br /> low-lead or no-lead fuels , but at present , it would be more economical to <br /> respect the characteristics of the cars City does have , and prolong their <br /> life . During further discussion , Police Chief explained that the <br /> Department ' s new high performance vehicles were designed to run on <br /> premium gasoline , mainly due to high speed operation. These vehicles <br /> are maintained in finely-tuned condition and therefore do not present <br /> the emission problems a standard business automobile , which does not <br /> receive the same degree of maintenance , normally would , <br />
