165 Bulletin of May 7 , 1971 , which included its recommendation for expressing opposition to SB 333 ; bulletin dated May 3 , 1971 , of Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC ) ; and Legislative Bulletin of LCC , dated April 30 , 1971 , relating to hearing in Senate Committee of the bill , during which League , city and county representatives , and Supervisors Association spoke in opposition to the bill . Councilman Henderson indicated that , as recommended , Mayor Bury was asked to present a copy of the report to Council of Mayors , and it was hoped the local community could be made aware of the ramifications , including Chamber of Commerce and other interested civic groups . Councilman Henderson reported that Assemblyman Arnett felt the Governor should be made aware of Council ' s position . Mayor Bury advised that the members of Council of Mayors supported the position of opposition to the bill , and had indicated they would go back to their Councils and seek support . Councilman Keckley moved to accept the report and authorize implementation of the recommendations , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried , (MINUTE ORDER #71-- 99) Councilman Henderson noted the Legislative Committee was scheduled to meet Tuesday , May 25 , 1971 , at 7 : 30 A . M . Transportation Committee Report , Councilman Rhodes , Chairman , Portions of the report had been presented at the meeting of May 17 , Councilman Rhodes briefly reviewed the items on the report , which included adoption of Resolution No . 6511 to provide for blind persons to ride the municipal buses without charge between the hours of 9 : 00 a . m . and 4 : 00 p . m . , and Servicar had been notified , He noted that subsequent to last week ' s report , relative to the contribution of $100 by the Redwood City Bobbies to provide for transit system bench , the "Fun After Fifty " Club had volunteered labor which would permit installation of four benches instead of one . With regard to request of the Yellow Cab Company for revision of procedure for changing cab rates , so as to reflect cost of living increase or decrease granted City employees , Committee had recommended against this method . However , Councilman Rhodes indicated that due to change in chairmanship of this Committee , and to permit the Company the opportunity to present its position, he recommended that this item of the report be continued to June 14 , 1971 . Mr . Oliver V . Nordby , President of Mid-Peninsula Cab Co . , Inc . , 450 Howland Ave . , indicated he would appreciate the opportunity to be heard by the Transportation Committee .
