1_ 95
Councilman Petersen moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60 . 9 . 1 to Ordinance
No . 1130 , the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance , rezoning property in the vicinity of
Vera Avenue and El Camino Real , seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried .
Application of ROBERT and KAY MARR for exception to the Subdivision Ordinance to allow
subdivision of one parcel into two parcels , involving exceptions of street frontage ,
property located at 1545 Maddux Drive , being Lot 16 , Block 16 , Sterling Highlands No . 4,
in an "R--1" ( Single Family-Residential ) District .
Planning Commission at their meeting of March 23, 1971 , recommended unanimously
that exceptions to the minimum lot frontage requirements of the Subdivision
Ordinance , permitting 15 feet of lot frontage for one parcel and 35 feet of frontage
for one parcel and 35 feet of frontage for the other , where 50 feet is required , be
granted , subject to the specific conditions as outlined in the report submitted to
Council .
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6538 GRANTING EXCEPTION TO CERTAIN
PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY - ROBERT AND KAY
MARR , seconded by Councilman Rhodes .
Councilman Henderson expressed opposition to the application, indicating she felt
this was further dilution of assessed valuation as it applies to cost of services .
Councilman Rhodes spoke in favor and felt that application merited support .
Mr . Robert Marr , 1545 Maddux Drive , advised that his lot
contained over 22 , 000 sq . ft . , with only one dwelling , and
described some of the problems he had encountered because
of the deep lot , such as weed control , as well as fires ,
which he felt would not have occurred if the rear of the
property had been developed . He also stated his neighbors liked
this kind of development , that it offers more privacy, and re-.
moves parking from the street .
After additional brief discussion, motion carried on roll call vote , Councilmen
Henderson and Williams voting no , and Mayor Bury being noted absent .
Application of PEARL METZ for exception to the Subdivision Ordinance to allow sub -
division of one parcel into two parcels , involving exceptions of street frontage ,
property located at 1565 Maddux Drive , being Lot 14, Block 16 , Sterling Highlands
No . 4, in an "R- l" ( Single Family - Residential ) District . The application was
the same in general as had previously been considered by Council and denied on
March 22 , 1971 , at which applicant was not present . Planning Commission at
their meeting of May 25 , 1971 recommended unanimously that exceptions to the
minimum lot frontage requirement of Subdivision Ordinance , permitting 15 feet
of lot frontage for one lot and 35 feet of frontage for the other, where 50
feet is required, be granted , subject to certain conditions .
City Manager pro tem advised that the Planning Commission had considered the
application for the second time , and reiterated their recommendation for
approval .
