209
Mr . I . R . Goodman , 515 Allerton, representing the
applicant , spoke in support of the application, noting
that many of the surrounding lots were substandard in
size . He advised that an existing single -family resi-
dence on the parcel would be retained .
City Manager pro tem responded to questions by Council , indicating that the
substandard lots were developed under the 1948 Zoning Ordinance , or prior .
Councilman Weymouth moved to reverse the action of the Planning Commission and
grant the exception and adopt resolution granting the exception , seconded by
Councilman Rhodes . Councilman Henderson spoke in opposition to the motion,
feeling it was not in the best interests of the community to increase density
in this way . Vice-Mayor Keckley concurred, noting that where one standard lot
exists , two substandard lots would be created, and this would not be in the
spirit of the present Zoning Ordinance to upgrade the community . Councilman
Williams also spoke in opposition to the motion . Motion LOST on roll call
vote , Councilmen Henderson , Petersen, Williams and Vice-Mayor Keckley voting
no ; Councilmen Rhodes and Weymouth voting yes .
Councilman Henderson moved to affirm the action of the Planning Commission and
deny the exception, seconded by Councilman Williams and carried, Councilmen
Rhodes and Weymouth voting no . ( MINUTE ORDER #71-124 )
Request of Harold Hinch for outside sewer connection permit , 124 Alameda de las
Pulgas . Sewer line was subsequently
constructed by City on the westerly side of Alameda . Mr . Hinch now proposed
to develop one of his subdivided lots . Staff recommended approval , subject
to payment of required fees . Report was submitted to Council .
In response to question by Council, City Manager pro tem advised that County ' s
subdivision data, and Planning Department data had been reviewed, and it was
determined that the lot sizes conform to City ' s requirements .
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6554 GRANTING CONDITIONAL SEWER
CONNECTION PERMIT TO PREMISES SITUATE OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS PURSUANT TO SECTION
27 . 21 . 1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND STATING CONDITIONS THEREOF
( HINCH - NO . 2 ) , seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried on roll call vote ,
Mayor Bury being noted absent .
REPORT OF BID OPENINGS :
( a ) Furnishing and installation of Type "A " Fire Alarm System .
