230 In response to questions concerning budgeting for additional fire equipment , City Controller reported that two fire engines are on order , one being a replacement , and one being additional which was ordered approximately 18 months ago with the thought it would serve Redwood Shores . He stated it --- should be delivered within the next 45 days . Responding to questions concerning landscaping in the Bridge Parkway area , City Park Superintendent noted the contractor was due to begin work on this area the following morning . Vice -Mayor Keckley commented on an invitation received by the Redwood City Police Chief from Director J . Edgar Hoover to attend the FBI intensive training school , noting the honor to the Police Chief and the City . Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6571 ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES IN THE LOCALITY, seconded by Councilman Henderson . In accordance with Labor Code Section 1773 , City may publish annually updated wage rates for tradesmen who perform labor in public works projects in lieu of publishing with each call for bids . This resolution would amend rates for Fiscal Year 1971-72 . In response to question by Councilman Henderson, City Attorney advised that there is a possibility it will be ad - vantageous to amend the resolution later , but advised Council to proceed now in order not to have to publish each time there is a call for bids . Motion carried on roll call vote , Mayor Bury being noted absent , Councilman Rhodes moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6572 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE FURNISHING OF WATER SYSTEM TELEMETERING EQUIPMENT ; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Henderson . The Telemetering Equipment would relay 24-hour per day water system operating conditions from supply intakes , reservoirs , pumping stations and distribution system for indicating and recording at Municipal Services Center . GID 2 -65 bond funds of $ 100 , 000 for water system improvements were authorized for a Central Indicating and Control System . Councilman Williams questioned the fact that the proposed agreement did not include insurance requirement . City Attorney advised that the bid would be for purchase rather than performance , and that ordinarily insurance was not required for purchase of materials and supplies . If a contract called for manufacture and installation , then insurance would be required . Motion carried on roll call vote , Mayor Bury being noted absent . Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6573 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF JEFFERSON BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS - COMMUNITY PARK CONDUIT - AND STULSAFT BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS - MISCELLANEOUS STREET CULVERTS - PROJECT NO . SD-14 - GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO . 1-65 ,
