230 <br /> In response to questions concerning budgeting for additional fire equipment , <br /> City Controller reported that two fire engines are on order , one being a <br /> replacement , and one being additional which was ordered approximately 18 <br /> months ago with the thought it would serve Redwood Shores . He stated it --- <br /> should be delivered within the next 45 days . <br /> Responding to questions concerning landscaping in the Bridge Parkway area , <br /> City Park Superintendent noted the contractor was due to begin work on this <br /> area the following morning . <br /> Vice -Mayor Keckley commented on an invitation received by the Redwood City <br /> Police Chief from Director J . Edgar Hoover to attend the FBI intensive training <br /> school , noting the honor to the Police Chief and the City . <br /> Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6571 ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING <br /> THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES IN THE LOCALITY, seconded by <br /> Councilman Henderson . In accordance with Labor Code Section 1773 , City may <br /> publish annually updated wage rates for tradesmen who perform labor in public <br /> works projects in lieu of publishing with each call for bids . This resolution <br /> would amend rates for Fiscal Year 1971-72 . In response to question by Councilman <br /> Henderson, City Attorney advised that there is a possibility it will be ad - <br /> vantageous to amend the resolution later , but advised Council to proceed now <br /> in order not to have to publish each time there is a call for bids . Motion <br /> carried on roll call vote , Mayor Bury being noted absent , <br /> Councilman Rhodes moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6572 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS <br /> FOR THE FURNISHING OF WATER SYSTEM TELEMETERING EQUIPMENT ; AND AUTHORIZING <br /> CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Henderson . The <br /> Telemetering Equipment would relay 24-hour per day water system operating <br /> conditions from supply intakes , reservoirs , pumping stations and distribution <br /> system for indicating and recording at Municipal Services Center . GID 2 -65 <br /> bond funds of $ 100 , 000 for water system improvements were authorized for a <br /> Central Indicating and Control System . Councilman Williams questioned the <br /> fact that the proposed agreement did not include insurance requirement . City <br /> Attorney advised that the bid would be for purchase rather than performance , <br /> and that ordinarily insurance was not required for purchase of materials and <br /> supplies . If a contract called for manufacture and installation , then insurance <br /> would be required .
