Guy Barbour , 280 Howland Street , introduced Steve Han , 1933 Corte Real , Oakland , who commented on the plan to construct dental offices on the site , and their view that the parcel was contiguous to the commercial area . They felt that the intended use would enhance the area , and was not similar to a purely commercial activity , and would serve as a - buffer between the residential and commercial areas . Mrs . Neumann , 1616 Union Avenue , spoke in favor of the rezoning , feeling this would be preferable to apartments and attendant parking problems . Bill Rappaport , 1240 Academy Avenue , Belmont , advised he dealt in dental supplies , felt that dentistry graduates were looking to areas other than Redwood City because of lack of facilities , and that demand for services would double in a few years as more employers adopt dental plans . The site in question would be convenient to apartment dwellers in the area . Dr . Ken Kato , 3667 Glenwood , indicated he had difficulty in finding specialists within the City when necessary to refer his patients , What they would like to do was to bring these specialists to Redwood City . He described his unsuccessful search in other areas of the City where professional offices exist . Councilman Henderson questioned how many units could be built under present zoning , and the parking requirements , Senior Planner responded the land could be resubdivided , since it was in R-2 , and could even come under the Planned Development procedure , maximizing dwelling units , in which case there could be as many as eight , Following additional brief discussion , Councilman Petersen moved to close the pubic hearing , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried . Councilman Petersen moved to affirm the action of the Planning Commission and deny the application , seconded by Councilman Keckley . On question , Councilman Keckley noted this was similar request to the previous one , for extension of a zoning district , and felt that having just approved the Woodside Road General Plan , it was important to set boundaries and maintain them , He also felt there was sufficient PO zoned property available , After additional discussion , motion carried on roll call vote , Councilmen Henderson , Keckley , Petersen and Weymouth voting yes ; Councilman Rhodes and Mayor Bury voting no , and Councilman Williams being noted absent . (MINUTE ORDER #71-142 ) Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6578 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER FOR PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES , seconded by Councilman Keckley . Council had approved support for the program in the amount of $1 , 000 in the 1971-1972 Budget under Non-Departmental Expenses . Motion carried on roll call vote , Councilman Williams being noted absent . Councilman Weymouth moved to introduce Ordinance amending Section 29 . 69 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, relating to the planting of certain trees , seconded by Councilman Rhodes .
