251
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6584 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF JEFFERSON BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS - COMMUNITY PARK
CONDUIT, AND STULSAFT BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS . MISCELLANEOUS STREET
CULVERTS , PROJECT NO . SD-14 , GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO . 1-65 ;
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK ; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF
SECURITY DEPOSIT, seconded by Councilman Williams and carried on roll call
vote , Councilmen Petersen, Weymouth , Williams and Mayor Bury voting yes ;
Councilman Henderson and Rhodes voting no , and Councilman Keckley being
noted absent .
Councilman Petersen moved to introduce Ordinance adding Sections 20 . 97 . 2 and
and 20 . 97 . 5 to Article VII of Chapter 20 of the Code of the City of
Redwood City , relating to parking restrictions on Marsh Road and Rolison Road ,
seconded by Councilman Henderson .
Staff report indicated that Rolison Road and Marsh Road were designed as
two-lane roads with a parking lane only on the side fronting residences .
A miniature golf course fronts on the "no parking " side of Marsh Road , and
occasionally , cars are parked on both sides of Marsh Road when the miniature
golf course is busy , and on both sides of Rolison Road when the curb parking
is full on one side . The Ordinance would provide authority to cite vehicles
parked illegally, and was recommended by the Traffic Committee . In the dis-
cussion , Councilman Henderson felt residents of the area affected should be
made aware of the proposed restrictions . In the response by Staff, it was
pointed out by Traffic Engineer that when the State built the freeway , they also
built Rolison Road (parallel to the freeway ) , and that the ordinance was simply a
means of effecting prohibited parking which should have been in force from the
beginning . Deputy Policy Chief noted that parking on any travelled way is
illegal , but in this case had never been posted . He also indicated that the
lane was used mostly by visitors to this area , and not the residents . Motion
carried .
Termination of contract for installation of Peninsula and Bridge Parkway Fencing-
Section 2 , and authorization for issuance of change order to contract for
Landscape Project, Peninsula-Bridge Parkways - Section 1 , General Improvement
 p ent
District No . 1-64 .
An architects error in preparation of contract documents for the installation
of parkway fencing, Bridge Parkway Section 2 and Peninsula Parkway Section 2 ,
had resulted in necessity to terminate the agreement with the general contractor ,
who had agreed in writing to the termination . In order to accomplish the necessary
fencing work and to coordinate the existing contract work for Peninsula and Bridge
Parkway Landscaping-Section 1 , it was proposed that a change order be issued
