<br /> ON ROLL CALL, the following were noted present : Councilmen Mary W .
<br /> Henderson , Paul C . Keckley , Herbert G . Petersen , William C . Rhodes ,
<br /> Ray A . Weymouth , James S . Williams , Mayor Robert H . Bury , and City
<br /> Clerk Marian McCrindle . Also noted present were City Manager James
<br /> M . Fales , Jr . , City Attorney David E . Schricker , Deputy Police Chief
<br /> Joel Mansfield , Planning Director Ken Schroeter , Chief Building
<br /> Official Charles Gyselbrecht , City Controller Jack Ference , Deputy
<br /> Director of Public Works -Public Services Warren J . Mitchell ,
<br /> Construction Engineer William T . Martin , Superintendent of Buildings
<br /> and Maintenance Melvin I . Moen , Superintendent of Parks Pasco Balza. rini. ,
<br /> and Deputy City Clerk Frances I . Reggetts .
<br /> Councilman Henerson moved to approve , as mailed , Minutes of Regular
<br /> Meeting of August 23 , 1971 , Minutes of Executive Session of
<br /> August 23 , 1971 , and Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting of
<br /> August 30 , 1971 , seconded by Councilman Petersen and carried .
<br /> Mayor Bury announced that the appointment of a committee to assist
<br /> Redevelopment Agency had been made on August 23rd , with the
<br /> following members : Vice Mayor Keckley and Councilmen Henderson and
<br /> Petersen , from City Council ; Marty Mohr , William Floyd and Fred Soderer ,
<br /> representing Planning Commission , and Tony Gonzales , Sylvester McGuire
<br /> and Eugene Moriguchi , Citizen Members , Vice -Mayor Keckley advised that
<br /> the first meeting of the Committee was to be held September 30 , 1971 ,
<br /> at 7 : 30 a . m . , at City Hall .
<br /> Mayor Bury requested that Council defer for one week the matter of
<br /> nominations to the Civic . Cultural Commission , to allow additional time
<br /> to contact members of the Steering Committee who might be potential
<br /> candidates .
<br /> Mayor Bury noted that several young Sequoia High School students were
<br /> present who had participated in the student exchange program , under the
<br /> sponsorship of the Redwood City Chapter of the American Field Service ,
<br /> Mrs . Paul C . Keckley , Chapter President , introduced Thuy Nguyen , from
<br /> Saigon , Viet Nam, Carl Middlemann of Capetown , South Africa , as well
<br /> as two outstanding young men from Redwood City , Don Russell , who had
<br /> gone to Costa Rica , and Jim Marchetti , who had been in Spain , Mayor
<br /> Bury then presented to Mrs . JKeckley a proclamation commending the AFS
