COMMUNITY PROGRESS REPORT City Manager briefly reviewed his written report previously submitted to Council ( for full text see City Clerk ' s file - Council Miscellaneous ) Peninsula & Bridge Parkway Landscaping proceeding satisfactorily , and by authorization of Council , a change order had been issued to add construction of Parkway Fencing Section 2 to the project . Repair of Peninsula. & Bridge Parkways , which had been damaged during construction of the Strategic Consolidated Sewerage outfall main , was in process of being repaired by the contractor , Stockton Construction Co . , and com- pletion was anticipated by the end of. September . Plans and specifications for Neighborhood Park No . 2 , to be constructed in Dolphin Subdivision , have been completed , and after review by Staff will be presented to Council for authorization to accept bids in October . DMJM has reviewed to ascertain the project will be within the budgeted 5106 , 000 . Leslie Properties has indicated informally they will fund $ 31 , 500 of the project . With regard to the request of U . S . Geological Survey to conduct subsurface geophysical surveys within Redwood Shores , City Manager advised that action by Council was being requested to authorize execution of a permit to USGS , and this had been strongly recommended by the Seismic Advisory Board . The survey would involve running three seismic refraction profiles across the south bay to determine depth and configuration of bedrock and to evaluate earlier gravity surveys that indicated the presence of several buried faults . Staff was preparing a letter permit which would cover insurance , time limits and notification requirements . Included would be a paragraph protecting buried equipment which could be damaged by the small charges which will be set off for energy source . Mr . Donald Nichols , of USGS , has assured staff that only persons in close proximity to the site would be aware of the detonations . Homeowners Association has been notified with respect to time schedules , and it was hoped that the press would publish those times . Work was anticipated to start on Wednesday , September 15 , in six locations , and the experiment would last three weeks . According to experts , it was felt this was a worthwhile set of experiments to assist in seismic knowledge . Staff felt there was an obligation to assist , as long as the public is protected . Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6587 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A REVOCABLE PERMIT TO UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR GEOLOGICAL SURVEY TO CONDUCT GEOLOGICAL STUDIES ON CERTAIN CITY
