Recreasion . The <br /> swimming pools were actively used this year , and swimming instruc - <br /> tion classes full all summer , with approximately 1700 children <br /> taking advantage of the lessons . Other activities such as day <br /> camp , instructional baseball , fishing , softball and in- service <br /> training for playground leaders were well attended , with tennis <br /> being the most popular activity . The Caboose project initiated and <br /> administered by Park and Recreation Commission is progressing nicely . <br /> Southern Pacific had been laying track and would deliver the caboose <br /> to Redwood City within week , E . H . Bean Trucking is donating the <br /> time and equipment to transport the caboose to the site in Community <br /> Park . Route 280 . Work had resumed on Junipero Serra. Freeway between <br /> Woodside and the Walter Doran Memorial Bridge after settlement of <br /> the teamsters strike . Three or four contracts for construction of <br /> the structures and roadway will be out to bid in the next two years <br /> with possible completion in late 1975 or early 1976 . Plans and <br /> specification for Rolison Road Extension being prepared by <br /> Department of Public Works , and are 75% complete . Soil tests and <br /> pavement section design arecomplete , Public Works anticipates <br /> asking Council approval of plans and specifications and call for <br /> bids on October 4 , 1971 . <br /> PUBLIC HEARING , Resolution of Intention to vacate ten- foot wide public <br /> utility easement ( Kaiser Hospital property) , declared open and <br /> affidavits of publication and posting ordered filed , Council at <br /> their meeting of August 16 , 1971 had adopted Resolution of Intention <br /> to vacate this public utility easement , being no longer required by <br /> the City , and setting public hearing for this date . There being <br /> no communications or discussion , public hearing was closed on motion <br /> of Councilman Henderson , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6588 VACATING AND <br /> ABANDONING EASEMENT FOR PUBLIC UTILITY PURPOSES , seconded by <br /> Councilman Petersen and carried on roll call vote . <br /> APPEAL of COY and VERA RUSSELL from denial by the Planning Commission of <br /> their application for exception to the Subdivision Ordinance to <br /> A <br />
